I've just brought my gelding in from the field to his stable he went straight in and done a big wee...but every few minutes or so he keeps going back and trying to wee again and only a very small trickle is coming out his done this quite a few times now, doesn't seem to be in any discomfort his eating normally and happy to be touched all over.. any suggestions what this could be ?
 
Could be a number of things but my guess is Kidney or bladder infection, call vets for antibiotics and add give some electrolytes to promote drinking to flush him through.
 
I don't know what was wrong with him tbh, he was regularly checked throughout the night then just suddenly stopped doing it, hasn't done it at all today, just gonna keep an eye on him see how he goes. Wandering if perhaps he had something stuck up in his sheath which is now dislodged or whatever :/

Have you checked for a bean?
 
yeah I couldn't seen anything, have since cleaned it and had a wash round and put a small bit of baby oil round, just gonna have to wait and see I reckon
 
Haha tell me about it. This is my first gelding aswel lol have heard of it before though remember the vet telling my mum to check her boys for em lol pleasant 🙈
 
Mmm I knew there was a reason I have mars by choice. Never found one when I did have a gelding but once saw an old pony who couldn't wee. When we checked he had a huge one - I couldn't believe my eyes! He was mightily relieved to get rid of it.
