I moved yards today and I had trouble loading him. He got in so far and when I asked him to move forward a bit he just pulled back and backed out of the trailer. Second time he reared, third time he pulled back and fourth time he went in. Now Im not expecting him to go in straightaway next time. Has anyone got any tips? BTW trailers not mine so I wont be able to practice loading him. He travelled fine in the trailer. Im hoping next month to get my horsebox in order and to start using that. Im not sure he'll like going in that either. Thats 3.5 ton.

Next question....,

My lad has had a watery eye since I bought him (two weeks ago) and a few days ago I was told by vet to put some salty water on his eye. So that started fine for a few days now I have trouble getting near him when he sees me coming with the hot water and cotton wool balls. Any ideas as to how to treat his eye?

hi sounds like you having trouble nothing worse than when they wont load. I deal i lot with horses that wont load i get called out a lot more than you could imagine there are many reasons why they wont load if you would like anymore info about what i do just pm me no prob x

The eye could be any number of things from almost-nothing to quite major. If what you're currently doing is uncomfortable for horse suggest speaking to vet again.

Having said that it is unfortunate that you have to do something that requires so much trust in you as soon as you've got him. Hope it turns out to be nothing serious.
