Ok its my solo comb - in fact its the second one I've bought. The first one stopped cutting after a couple of months but I couldnt find the recipt to return it, so I bought another one and after a couple of weeks the same thing happened. The button presses but the blades dont move so oh took the first one to bits and said the pin inside has moved and he fixed it. Half way through trimming foalies mane tonight and lo and behold - its stops working again. I now have a yearling that looks like a six year olds barbie doll and I've got a county show next week! Any one else have the same problem?

Mine stopped working after four or five manes (and by the way its the law that they stop the day before you urgently need a neat mane...) but it was because the blades were blunt - so we changed them. They did a few more months, then died again at the weekend. This time the blades were fine, but there was loads of grease from the mane in the comb, which was jamming it... Again, it worked fine after it was cleaned.. Having said that, I'd never have worked that out, but am married to super mechanic who also repairs solo combs, headcollars and clippers as well as cars!

I love the 6 yr old barbie doll comment!! I'v got one, used it once, found it useless and a waste of money! I prefer those mane thinning combs, the cheap plastic ones with the blade. They're only a few quid and you can chuck them without feeling bad!! My tb has an incredibly thick, wavy mane and the solo comb kept getting clogged!

Mine packed up as well, the spring went. But i did'nt like it much ant way.
I bought a mane rake a while ago, and it's brilliant! much more like a pulled mane.
My only problem with it is, it's sooooo adictive, nearly had a bald mare. :D
Going to try it on the cat soon.... if i can pin him down. :D :D

See I found that when my solo comb broke like this, that I just took of the plastic cover on the blades and pushed the blades so that they like this vvvvvvvvv instead of likes this v v v v v v v and then i just use it like a rake and its amazing! sooooo much better to use, occasionaly i have to push blades back into place! wasnt keen on the acctually solo comb the way its meant to work as i just used to end up with straight lines and a short but thick sticky uppy mane :P
