Problems with pony, Help!

Had some strange behaviour in pony lately and wondering what other people think might be the cause as his manners have slipped completely and it’s all just getting a bit out of hand;

1)He’s galloping at break-neck speed at fences even though he was jumping them at a steady pace 3 weeks ago, and on hacks has become more nappy
2)He stands with his bum in the corner of his stable and turns his bum to you if you go to tack him up
3)He’s generally just become more tense and aggressive.

Will just mention that on the way back from trailblazers on Tuesday he slipped and fell in the trailer which was very traumatic and when we tried to take him again yesterday he went crazy every time the trailer slowed down or went round a corner but was fine when the trailer was at constant speed along the flat and loaded very happily as if nothing had happened on Tuesday. We are getting his back checked but any other ideas, could it just be a case of him being stressed and should he have a bit of time off or what would you do?

Your gut instinct is telling you it is the back, and I think you are right to go with that. I wouldn't ride this horse until that has been looked at.

If it were my pony, I would be doing exactly as you are -getting the back person out. My thoughts exactly as I started to read your post...

Sounds like he is in pain Im with everyone else get him checked it would explain his change of nature.

Definately get his pelvis and back checked.

Thanks everyone, just spoken to equine chiro/physio who is going to come on wednesday to check out the chappy, and im not going to ride him til then oz i dont want to make it worse, so fingers crossed she can help him

I think that you're doing the right thing by having him checked for pain. A change in personality or rideability after an accident or incident sounds too much like a coincidence to me.
