Aww hes gorgeous! Such a change, i wish i could get my boy to look like that lol, hes very slowly getting there (hes belgum warmblood with not much topline or anything when i got him). Mabye in a couple of months i can post one like this, hes having to change from show jumper to dressage horse!! Well done though
smile.gif

ahhh I love your horse, and what a fab transformation!!

Have posted mine before, but I'll do it again:

This is how I got him, unbroken 3yr old, straight from the field

Last year, when we moved to a competition yard & really knuckled down on the flat work.

The plumb-ish welsh cob, coming back into work after several months off & surgery on ruptured suspensory & chipped bone

I done this before but here is mine, Bodey!

As a 3 year old, the day I choose him, a wild and very nervy pony!

A bit of a difference I think!

Prince33Sp4rkle you can really see A difference with you horse, fab!

Freddy, my tb, when we first got him:
freddywhen1stcamehome.jpg

last feb after winning a sj league
freddyreceivingcup.jpg

Freddy now, he still needs more topline.
Photo-0006enhanced.jpg

He's so gentle and loving he has convinced me that ex-racers are fab, and I'm hoping to get another soon
smile.gif

PrincessSparkle, your tb is gorgeous! I'm hoping to do dressage with Freddy soon myself, he's won a league before but it'll be my first attempt. eep.

Ok my two beasties (both now sold - ferdi because i had overhorsed myself and toby because he was too small
frown.gif
. But both were not in the best state when i first got them!)

Ferdi - none of these photos are of me, i took most of them! I deserve no credit for his change, it was all down to my very good friend who helped me sell him and the schooling we paid for.

When i first got him:

A month or so later:

At his first clear round!:

And just before i sold him being re schooled at classic dressage in buckinghamshire:

julieridinferdiatclassi.jpg

And now toby - all photos of me, but PLEASE NOTE I had a broken back, ruptured discs and a twisted spine after a nasty fall as well as bad arthritis in my knees so sorry about the crappy position especially of my legs
wink.gif
! He was a 1 in a million safe cob who was an excellent confidence giver so never going to be a top SJ/dressage horse
frown.gif
.

A few months after i had him and old owner thought he was looking skinny so you can imagine what he looked like when i first got him!(dont have any from
when i first got him):

a month or so later re backing properly this time (not that he needed it)

Attempting jumping properly for the first time!:

He then had a break whilst i went to uni but after 3 months i took him up there with me.

Freeschooling (its a still from a video):

Out in the field schooling:

With my 13yr old sharer who had never jumped more than a crosspole (yea i did push her to 1.10m the first time she jumped a straight and she loved it):

i miss him loads:

Sorry its so long!!

lucifer and alicat88-what fabulous jobs you have done, and given your boys lovely homes, angels the pair of you. makes me all warm and fuzzy to look at the afters!

lilym-as he's only 4 im desperately trying not push him, but he picks it up so quickly,or rather it seems he knows it all already.....he's competing novice, working solidly at elem and playing with some half pass and flying changes. he shows real talent for the piaffe/passage work, again not something im pushing but iv let him play with a few steps here and there and he's very active and quick behind.bless him im sure some big dressage stallion *got at* his dam, theres not an ounce of typical TB about him really!

hedgewitch13-thank you :blushes:

ohmygod snowysadude-did ferdi grow like 3 hands!!!! huge huge change in him!!!

[/ QUOTE ]

Haha thanks i think - yea he grew (about a hand though hahaha) as bought him as a 4 yr old and hes a warmblood so still had a lot of growing to do! When i got him he hadnt done anything at all and was a stallion lol (chopped them off quick even though he was so calm you wouldnt have known, you could leave just a chain across the door and walk a mare passed - he wasnt bothered! he wasnt good enough to pass a grading or anything, giving him the chop turned him into a nutcase though
frown.gif
...), so he filled out and muscled up loads
smile.gif
.

Your TB has changed sooo much too!! You wouldnt know the first picture was the same horse (in a good way)!! Merry christmas btw, just noticed you are a dressage trainer in east midlands too will PM
smile.gif
Merry christmas too

I've got a back to front one - (just to show how a good looking horse can turn into a rhino in the space of an 8 week holiday!)
robo%20hairy%20pic.jpg

and just 2 months earlier winning cob of the year at HOYS ...
robo%20hoys.jpg

I did actually Colleen, as because I'm so short and he's 16.2 with a ruddy massive stride I felt a bit like a pea on a drum, and got it into my head that a 15.2 would be better? I've decided to keep him though, I still find him big, but I've got used to him now, and he's such a lovely horse I don't think I could replace him easily. We were in need of his stable to bring in a youngster, but have since solved that problem by bulding 3 more lol. So now I'm still planning on getting a 15.2, but competeing Freddy myself at dressage.

The day I decided I really shoudl get my arse in gear and break Sienna in:

A few years later at HOYS:

And my newest 3 year old before, what will he look like after?

These have been posted before too - but I just love this guy
smile.gif

I bought him as a companion for my orphaned foal - here he is at 12 months and 4 years

From this, just after being backed (Summer '08)
zimatrotcropped.jpg

To this after lameness issues, a week at Rossdales, and a distinct lack of grass (though on Blue Chip Pro, Alpha A Oil, sugarbeet, Bailey's No. 4, Outshine) (picture April '09)

To this - after another trip to Newmarket (AHT), a month or so off due to my cracked arm mid-summer, then three months off due to my banged head and her leg being kicked in the field (November '09)

Back man and saddler were both out two weeks ago and both are very pleased with her
grin.gif
. She's filled out, broadened out, and evened-up across her back. Back man made a slight tweak to our Pessoa-ing regime, so once the weather allows, we'll be back to building the top line
grin.gif

i used to exercise prince before i bought him as a favour to my yard owners. when they said they were going to sell him i jumped at the chance, i put my pony out on loan and loaned him untill i had the money to buy him.
when i was just exercising him about 3 1/2 years ago.

oh i forgot to add, mine is also an ex racer. i think i would definatly get another one if it is anything like prince! im hoping to be competing elementry by the end of next year.

Have got quite a few good ones of "project" ponies but I'll just post the ones of my current horse as he's the one who looked the worst on arrival! When he came it was January (several years ago) and he'd been wintered out with NO rug... this is a horse who was imported from Portugal (luso x TB) only a few months before so not exactly made for Scottish weather! As a result, his ribs and hips were visible (even under a "winter" coat), he was FULL of worms and was depressed for about 4 months before starting to cheer up. He was the best buy I've ever made!

And for now pics, see sig

A very good example of that not all horses that looks to be in a hm, slightly less well condition, have to be neglected. As I recall the only thing you didn't try and feed her was rocket fuel and she still looked the way she looked.

Fingers crossed that it continues onwards and upwards for you and Dizzy.

Indeed hun! I was at my wits end (maybe I should have tried rocket fuel....?!)
blush.gif
The only thing that worked was moving her to another yard where the grass was good
smile.gif
. I ignored the vet's advice to keep working her (I could have had someone else work her whilst I was incapacitated lol), and just let her chill and mature a bit
grin.gif

Moving her close to home soon, and hopefully the weather will improve, then we can get back into the muscle build up
grin.gif
.

Ta hun
