Any Idea's on something that works? I think its just being done in the stable as there is not a lot to rub on outside and horse always has a fly rugs with big tail flap which it totally undamaged and shows no sign of rubbing.
I used to have something in a tall bottle, I liquid you poured on and rubbed in which worked amazingly but it ran out and I cant think what it was. Just been to a tack shop but got no inspiration! They had fly stuff and skin stuff but nothing specifically to stop a itchy tail rub! I don't want anything gunky, like stinky stuff. Prefer a liquid that's as easy and effective as what ever I used to have!

I usedto use benzyl benzoate which you could buy at the the chemist or order online but couldn't find any anywhere which I normally get which I think is diluted to 25% so have bought some killitch which seems to mainly be BB anyway and so far it's working 🤞 x

i use the biteback sweet relief, she doesn’t have sweet itch but she absolutely obliterates her tail! there’s a metal bar that goes across the window at the back, at perfect bum height😩

Do you mean this? Leovet No Rub, it's a slightly greasy liquid

Try an agricultural suppliers / shop.
B.B. used to be the go-to for pubic lice(!) and chemists always a bit discreet when our riding school instructor called in for ‘biggest bottle you’ve got’ in her best braying voice....

Yes! That’s it, the name was almost in my head but I just couldn’t get to it.
Thanks for all suggestions. I actually think I have some benzyl benzoate bug goodness knows where!
Bite back products also look good.

I use the bite back products on my sweet itch pony and they work amazing well. One of the big ones rubs his tail in the stable when it’s hot and humid though and no creams seem to make a difference. I honestly think he just thinks it feels nice when he’s hot and itchy  The only thing that does seem to help a little is washing the top of his tail every other day.
