Products to deter fence chewing?

They have old branches when out ;) I've seen them. They are also adequately supplemented as the OP uses hack up bespoke.

OP it might be the arab bit too ;) we used to have to cribbox the inside of the trailer to stop the anglo removing the rubber round the inside of the jockey door, sound familiar :p.

cribbox/lick/jolly ball to amuse? - a couple have them here as they will nom that rather than stables.

What's in the hack up bespoke though? What I'm trying to say as is mike, unless u know what vits/mins your grazing etc lacks you could do more harm by adding a basic vit supplement.
I can't use topspec balancers at all as they go totally against my grazing and gives my horses issues, topspec wouldn't hear of it but after having things looked into and going for a vit supplement which goes with my grazing I'm sorted.
Hack up makes the supplements to what you require for the individual horse from what I know so unless they have details of your grazing they can't bespoke a vit/min supplement.

Cribbox sorted ours out when they went through a phase of nibbling. Last bought a pot about a year ago so fingers crossed it is still easy to get hold of :) As has already been mentioned though you need to remember not to lean on it anymore!!!

If you dot Cribox around, once they have tasted it they won't want to risk it again (have you ever by accident tasted even the tiniest remnant on your hands - urggghhhh) and you won't run much of a risk of getting it on clothing. I changed a habit in one of mine who chewed fences in the paddock by doing that, just kept dabs of Cribox at intervals on the rails.
Sounds to me as though they are attention seeking though so find a way to stop them chewing and then ignore and walk away until they lear that it doesn't get them attention, even shouty cross attention is better than none to some horses.

Thank you - yes, nail on the head. I ignore the foot scraping and door kicking and it ceases, I want to ignore the fence chewing (while they look at me sideways ;) ), but it's got the potential to cause damage so I want to stop it. It's quite interesting how when they forget I am around it stops. Cribox ordered.

And my final comment to all - I appreciate everyone's response and have read them all. If they start eating the field fences once I have protected the yard ones I will look at other causes. I don't for a minute believe I know it all, but I do know my horses and their characters pretty well. Thank you. :) x

Ok well let's just say that the OP feeds to barefoot principles including mineral supp so I don't think that is likely to be the issue. I've seen their feet too which would agree. All top spec feeds are known for causing issues with feet so am not surprised to hear you say that.

As an aside I feed equimins advanced and adjust it for grass analysis by adding a couple of extras and F still likes a munch on the soil now and then!

Cribbox works well for my sister's gelding, who is a committed crib biter (he has been treated for ulcers but the crib biting seems to be here to stay). It does need reapplying every now and then, but it seems to do the trick!

Good luck, nobody knows it all, and its nice sometimes just to see what others say in case something pops up and you thing " why didnt I think of that" but at the end off the day you know your horses, we don't, we can just give you a few ideas to ponder over. :)
