Am thinking of getting a set for Oscar for hacking and schooling and have also heard they are good for travelling?

Should only have them on for a couple of hours max.

I've travelled horses in them. The neds seem to prefer as less awkward and they don't slip down (the Dizz gets very stroppy if any slips down her hind legs).

Yes, but get the Elite ones as they fit better (I know they're more expensive!)

We use them on our western horse for everything and they're great - wear and wash really well and never slip.

I also use them for travelling as she hates travelling boots (she had an accident as a 2yo and can't cope with anything round her hocks!) and they provide good protection, plus the peace of mind that they don't slip. They can get a bit hot, so if you're going on a long journey, take them off for a few minutes when you get there even if you need to put them back on again to ride.

I have used SMB for years. I have the Elite boots now and they are fab. My current pony found the SMBII a bit chunky and they made his legs warmer. I wouldn't leave them on for more than a couple of hours. I only use for competing so always take them off even though sometimes there is only an hour or so between finishing one heat and starting another.
I haven't used for travel or hacking so can't really comment on this, but for strenuous exercise they are the best and in my opinion the copies don't come anywhere close with support and protection.....well worth the investment.
