Been looking at getting a new girth for my horse since i had him.
He blows himself out when you go to do his girth up, he doesnt get funny about having it done up....he just likes it done up in stages!

I have been riding him first in a requisite elastic both ends girth, which came with him, the girth was actually ok, but it was way too long for him, it was done up on the top hole and still loose.
I then changed to riding in my old ponys cottage craft webbing girth. That again was ok, but i need something with roller buckles as now have new saddle and as the leather is a bit stiff without having roller buckles its ruining the girth straps.
Have been riding in a throwgood girth that i have borrowed. Have to say....i hate it and think the horse does too. I hate the fact that it has elastic oneside as it pulls the saddle about. Also i find it makes him mega sweaty and sticky. I havent tried the wintec girth as it looks like similar material.

SO..........after looking at tonnes of girths, i am stuck trying to decide between the aerbourn waffle atherstone girth with elastic at both ends. It looks very comfy and have read good things about it.
A cottage craft girth a good old fashioned webbing one. (but with roller buckled to move it into the 21st century.
OR.....the girth i am really interested in but wonder if they are worth the money the Professionals choice english girth with the neoprene backing and elastic both ends.

We are not going to be competing just local shows, a few pleasure rides and some indoor showjumping.

Would really appreciate your thoughts as really need to force myself to make a decision!!!!!

All sound goo options not sure on prices.

The professional choice girth is what the saddler used on saddles that I was trying out the other day, have to say I was impressed with it and will be getting one when my new saddle arrives, although they are mega bucks. I've had problems with saddles slipping and although I think the new saddle is main fix for that, none of the saddles I tried with this girth budged a bit.

(I'm switching from dressage saddle to VSD so couldn't test my slipping saddle with the pro choice girth)

The cottage craft one is about £12.
The Aerbourn one is about £20.
The professionals choice one is £50.

I have got a brand new saddle and had it checked by 2 different people. It fits him brilliantly....but it does slide back a little bit being the round barrely type!

I also (must be getting softer as i get older) want him to be as comfortable as possible.
And i do like the thought of a nice soft girth teamed with a nice neoprene pad to help keep him comfy.

The professionals choice girth does look really soft and comfy and its advertised to help prevent slipping. I have to say....i am very tempted to go on and order it!

The Pro Choice girths are excellent, I wouldn't have any other now. They do prevent the saddle slipping, and because the neoprene is grippy they don't need to be girthed as tight as conventional girths. And they do feel very comfortable too. Very much a thumbs up from me.
