Right, after taking advice from poeple on here and chatting with saddler and YO, we decided something with a curb might be suitable. A friend of mine kindly lent me her Myler for the day and I went on a hack. All was okay and then he started pulling and putting his head down. At this point the curb was very loose so he could get used to it. Anyway, so I got off and tightened it. Fantastic!! I could push him on, bring him back and stop without a problem. Then he suddenly started throwing his head around again so I got off and checked and he had got his tongue over the bit. Sorted that out in the middle of Cirencester park lol. Then did the same thing again 15 mins later!
Anyway, we are trying a pelham tomorrow and hopefully it will work

Also, what do you do in preparation for your events? I am going xc on friday, sjing lesson with a prefessional on Monday and then it's the big weekend - my first BE event !!

Anyone else at Belmont on Saturday?

That sounds like good news. Hope you also sorted your noseband otherwise I shan't come and talk to you at Belmont....lol
I'm there, though can't remember which section.
My preparation has involved Sienna being shod Monday, losing a shoe Tuesday, having the shoe put back on Friday and then losing another one Saturday. Not holding out much hope of a decent test anymore, assuming horse is actually fit enough to do the SJ. (Oh and the farrier forgot to put stud holes in so we'll probably die anyway... ho hum can't wait!)

Mostly I panic that I have learnt the wrong dressage, or that I have forgotton something vital (last weekend it was the ice packs for the cool boots i have).

Seriously though, XC then jump lesson sounds fine, then make a list of stuff you need, pack the night before, do a mental check before you leave, and make sure your mum has her credit card in case you forget anything vital!

If it is not raining I may come on Sat to watch, so if you do forget anything I may be able to do a mercy dash as it's about 20mins from where i live! (So really I should come on Sat and walk the course for Sunday).

I have sorted the noseband

The only bit my sister's NF mare stops leaning in, putting her head down and putting her tongue over the bit is a ported slotted kimblewick! She goes fantastically in it.

Might suit Sparky!
