Well said. Most of my numerous mistakes with horses have ended up with my ass on the grarse, and usually with an audience on hand to laugh, so no need of the internet, but I agree, don't expect people not to laugh if you claim a 4yo off the track is doing flying changes and pirouettes. (on purpose, that is, my daughter's pony can do both ad lib!)
 
I am not too sure about whether the Eriskay is a fully separate breed from the mainland pony....if the stud book is open to mainland blood, then presumably a small gene pool wouldn't be such a problem.
I haven't been aware of any real differences between the two, except the Eriskay is a bit smaller...and perhaps more refined.
I do remember that in the early 90's (I'm old!) the Dick Vet was breeding and trying to sell/rehome them....

In my defence (not that I should need one in a country where free speech is permitted)....I carefully did not identify the name of either the horse or the owner in the advert....it was entirely Honeymonster's decision to claim the 4yo advanced dressage steed as her own. If I were her, I probably wouldn't have LOL!
God, I wish people wouldn't take themselves so seriously...we all get decked...fall off...age horses incorrectly....have the p*** taken out of us by horses and fellow humans.
Get over it, I say! There is a quote (I forget whose) which says 'her only purpose was to serve as a warning to others' and I think that sums up my riding techniques!

I dont want to get sucked into this sort of thread, however I must please point out.

I have not got a 4 year old off the track who can do flying changes and canter pirrouette. I have a 5 1/2 year old horse,who came off the track at 3, spent a year being reschooled and when we bought her as a 5 year old she was starting flying changes and canter pirroutte, I saw it and have a video of it. At that time she was being schooled daily by a proffesional

What has happened since then, she has been schooled inconsistently by a 15 year old, had lots of time doing nothing and she is acting like a normal young horse, she has hardly hacked in this time we have had her and my daughter is scared when she prats on the road - I think my advert included this - so whats the problem
 
Gosh is it your time of the month Shilsadair? I agree totally that you have free speech....that doesn't change the fact that I can imagine how this lady feels seeing her horse being maligned on an open forum.

If I have something to say, then don't worry I will say it! I don't come on here to sympathise with people OR to stir...I come and I say what I think and in this case I felt sorry for this woman. I am exercising MY right of free speech

I am not entirely up on dressage moves but canter pirouette is quite an advanced move, is it not? Should a 5 year old be asked to perform that?

A friend of mine was looking on there and kept asking me what I thought of various horses.

I just couldn't believe anyone would put a horse on a website like project horses and ask anymore than a grand for them.

If I thought someone else was going to have to take on my problems I would be looking for quality home first and money second.

erm... I should say your initial problem was with the 'professional' who had a 5yo doing changes, but the problem now seems to be that it came across wrong in the advert, and you don't like people expressing their opnions?
The Project Horse site is going to cause comments like this, I would think it best to shrug them off and move on. Someone else on this thread cheerfully admitted putting a horse on there as s/he didn't get on with it, and that it is now going fine with a new owner. If you've made a mistake, and as others have said, we all have, it's better to laugh and get over it, than to land out at everyone else.
Possibly some of us are a bit hardened, having taken the knocks ourselves, I doubt anyone means you any harm, but it's a tough business, and better not to be precious about things is all.
I'm sorry your daughter got scared, that's happened to friends, and to my daughter, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, I'd sell the horse like a shot.
 
I cant see anything wrong with the ad at all, honest and up front as I read it.

To be fair this thread did start out as a NH/Parelli one....now thats a completely different ball game.

You are entitled to your free speech...as long as you are civil with it...I am not in the business of thought control (or the Thorntons chocolate delivery drivers would all be coming to me!).
The horse, and the owner were not named by me....to protect her identity given the situation....she CHOSE to come here and complain that we were discussing her public advert. Now if the information about the horse had been in a private forum/private conversation, I never would have discussed it. When was the last time you heard me discussing any of my fellow liveries?
She can do what she likes with her horse...but buying a 4yo or even 5yo on the premise that it did advanced dressage moves...for a 15yo is perhaps a little misguided?!

Perhaps not, perhaps thats why she has regressed with us who knows, perhaps I will just ring the knackers in the morning, perhaps he will do two for one, useless horse and useless owner, perhaps after a few more G&T's I wont care in the morning!

Yes you are right - of course people are going to pass judgment, I am sure I am guilty of it. I just didnt want to be grouped with failed paarelli/NH owners wanting 4k for a loony horse - I dont want to sell her at all, hence why I am so emotional about it all

Or I believe that unicorns were only obedient with pure and chaste women....which may be the problem?

Not meaning to be nasty...but perhaps if you revised your advert....to remove the bit about flying changes, dressage and saddle problems...
If you advertised her not as a 'Project horse' but as a 'normal' horse - along the lines of 15.3hh bay TB mare, ex racehorse but professionally reschooled. Walks, trots, canters and has been popping small fences. Good to box, shoe clip, sweet nature blah blah. Ready to go on and do more. For sale as daughter sitting GCSE's. Open to vet. £3000 with tack and rugs - to good home only.

Or perhaps you should ask someone experienced (I'd avoid the original 'professional' if I were you to ride her and sell her on for you...there are quite a few reputable folk in the business.
If you are in Glos I can give you some names? And I have no vested interest, don't worry.
