PROJECT HORSES WHY ARE THEY ALL PARELLI/NH

ok...AS this thread has degenerated into the usual HHO "he said, she said" type of thread, i will replt to FF's "ORIGINAL" post.....

IMHO, the majority of the crap that are "advertised" on that site, and i use the term lightly,...are just rubbish that their present owners are either unable or incapeable of taking serious "owner" responsibility for.

They have either over bought, been sold a lemon, or have just got something that is a complete "Donkey"...

whichever way it is, wake up, smell the coffee, you've made a mistake...so DON'T pass it off onto someone else as the "next big thing"!!!....
take responsibility...cut your losses and take it to an unwarrented sale and let someone buy it at a reasonable price and do something realistic with it.

[****] happens...

Indeed
It was kind of you to come here solely to share your wisdom with us, especially when your time is clearly at a premium.
I am sure I'll be bereft without your further wisdom, but hey ho...must keep soldiering on...
It must be difficult to find topics intellectually stimulating enough to prevent boredom....have you tried quantum physics recently?

Was there any call for that?? There's no need to be downright nasty when all Becki did was disagree with what was being said by a majority of posters. In her case natural horsemanship worked, and she was just stating that. Please grow up and stop making childish comments.

Perhaps you and Becki2003 could join up for a group hug on the moral high ground...
I lost all respect for you when your other post about farmers turned abusive and you didn't have the cohones to apologise, xxKatyxx.

Not aimed at anyone in particular, just a general observation.

Natural horsemanship has it's place in the equestrian world. We all use it, knowlingly or not. IMO to insult someone elses way of doing things is pretty pathetic. If they want to do it let them get on with it, but this place is becoming really cr*p with all the bitching about Parelli, natural horsemanship and novice owners.
Hell shoot anyone who doesnt do it the BHS way.

Secondly if I was the lady whose advert you were all slating I would be mortified and very angry. Guys, this is a PUBLIC forum. You simply cannot go around slagging off people on here. Have you all no morals?? How would you feel if we all slagged off YOUR advert? I havent read the advert in question, because to be honest I couldnt give two hoots about it.
It particularly annoys me because so many posters here have sucha 'holier than thou' attitude, yet post no pictures of yourselves riding, or your horses, or anything about them.

So if you're all so bloomin great... lets see the videos and photos...

Hear Hear- these types of posts are putting me off using this forum. live and let live. How others choose to work/ experience their horses does not affect what I do with mine therefore what right do I have to criticise what anyone else does. Having horses and riding is supposed to be fun- you should never be made to feel as though you have no right being around horses (unless their welfare is an issue)

Lol i've had this conversation before as I noticed same thing - I concluded that way too many people take up "Natural Horsemanship" without knowing much about it, and therefore don't actually install any discipline in the horse. NH isn't about being passive all the time, you still need discipline. So many people don't do that, and end up with horses walking all over them!

And even more people choose to comment and generally take the pi55 without knowing what it is too

Ah, xxKatyxx do my posts wind you up? Or are you representing all the other users too?

if they were to wind me up my blood pressure would be raised.

Nope, quite calm and contented thanks

Lots of presumptions there Shilasdair.

Leave H_M alone, I have seen a newly broken 3y.o doing shoulder-in and half pass (charlie 76 will back me up on that) so why wouldn't a 4y.o be able to do a flying change? Hardly difficult to teach really. The horse is clearly schooled.

I agree her daughter looks a little frightened but so what, TB's can be quirky bu**ers and it doesn't take much to knock some peoples confidence.

Re price I think £1,800/£2,000 would be nearer the mark, but that is just my opinion.

I'm glad xxKatyxx as if I'm not winding you up...and you don't profess to represent other users, then there's no need to apologise, is there?

I am the backbone of this country, as you are the backbone of the equestrian world. We're like peas in a pod

Perhaps you should be a trainer then...you could speed up the Spanish Riding School no end. I believe they are now not state supported, so starting advanced movements early would help cut their costs.
Or by flying change, do you mean changing leg in canter? In which case you have a point. Some of my youngsters in the past even take the wrong leg, sorry, take counter canter at an early stage
laugh.gif

Oh, and nothing wrong with being frightened...but it doesn't make for an inviting advert, that's all...
Who is H_P incidentally?

See that is where you are wrong, you must know the full facts of something before you can comment. Otherwise how can you comment? I notice how quickly you are to question whether people have read this thread? Why bother reading it if in your opinion you need know none of the facts to pass comment/judgement?
smirk.gif

Also interesting how quick you are to acuse me of making assumptions...perhaps you should read your own posts

I don't know? Who is H_P?

Changing a leg in front is not a flying change, though I detect a hint of sarcasm in your post which leads me to believe you realise a horse has to change behind first...
wink.gif
Clever girl.

Well the mentioned 3y.o was being ridden by an olympic gold medalist (I won't give away how many medals as I want to protect identity) so perhaps you should take your Spanish Riding school c*ap up with him/her!

I particularly liked the story of the 4yo ex racehorse who was purchased because she was doing flying changes....yeah right.

I've seen 3 year olds (and under) doing perfect flying changes- and yes, I do know what a perfect flying change looks like. I don't think they're that advanced TBH.

Grace was advertised on Project Horses, and she was over the £1000 mark as many of you will know. I think I got an absolute bargain with her, and there are some really stunning horses on that site that are just not right for the people who own them. The owners are being honest in the hope they will find the best home for their horses, and I do not think anyone has a right to criticise anyone who has placed an advert on that site, as that person will have been through every emotion when writing it.

[/ QUOTE ]

Completely agree. Yes, there are some idiots who mess up horses and ask silly prices, but a lot of time its a case of people making a mistake, simple as. Then they put the horse on there because its difficult and they want to be honest and find the horse the best home. Being difficult doesn't mean the horse is worthless either - many of these horses could be advertised and sold as normal horses, but the owners want to make sure the new owner is fully aware of all the quirks. I think its completely unfair to ridicule people who've made a mistake and are trying to rectify it and find their horse a good new home.

RHT - you are being just plain nasty. The horses on there are not necessarily crap at all. Some may be, but some are lovely talented horses who have been misunderstood along the road and who need an experienced caring hand to bring them on.
And how is taking them to a sale and selling to the highest bidder doing the responsible thing for the horse? Surely better to be honest and find a genuine home for the horse than just hand it on.

Some people are irresponsible owners, and some ask stupid prices for the horses, but its not fair to tarnish everyone with the same brush and ridicule everyone when you don't even know the full story.

Thing is, the old traddies/ BHS lot are taking the pi** -and having a laugh to boot. All I see from the NH brigade is whining. The former is so much funnier! There's enough NH types here - where's your retaliation? Where's the screamingly funny 'Fenella goes to a BHS Training Centre' thread? Lighten up. The pen is mightier than the sword!
Not aimed at anyone, using quick reply, could turn up as Re: anything!
