I don't understand why someone would put a horse on this website to sell just because it puts its ears back and chews its leadrope and sometimes bites!!

sounds just like a normal horse to me

OMG thats so funny, my mare would have to go on extreme problem horses!! not that i would even contemplate selling her.. i got a life sentence the day she stropped into my life..

I think people use the site coz they think they can get more money for them on it if people think they can bring it on and sell it for even more.

That doesn't really make sense does it? Why would anyone buy a horse at an over the odds price, in the hope of making a profit?
You know what? I don't know why people are so negative about the Project Horses site. There are sometimes horses there in need of a lot of work, others a little, but who is it hurting? Wwhy aren't people happy to leave buyers and sellers alone to get on with their lives?

A friend of mine has had two really good horses from there (and cheap) - was nothing wrong with them at all. Both had been owned by very novice owners. Overhorsed.

I just had to go and find the website, didn't I???

Oh dear! It's a good thing I know my limits (ability, land ,finance) otherwise I think I would be phoning after at least three horses (probably more).

Seems to me with a lot of those poor souls, that their only problem is their current owner, and the fact that they are for sale at such reduced prices hopefully shows that the owner knows that too.

I guess it's a hard balancing act for a novice, between paying a certain amount of money for the right horse, or buying a cheaper 'project' which they then find is way beyond their abilities.

It can be a good site and there are some good horses on there which need good homes and bringing on but there are people who use it to sell horses for over the odds - trust me I know people who have done it!!

My new horse came from there. Lovely mare, but at 12 had been a broodie all her life, had been backed but needed someone sensible to bring her on.

I got what would have been a very expensive horse, for a very good price, and to be honest, she's as well schooled and better behaved than a lot of 12yo horses I see about...

Thats her in my avatar

I'm not knocking the site at all, in fact I only really looked at it properly last night, but I don't think half the horses on there have any 'issues' at all. Like the one that chew's it's leadrope, I mean that's not an issue at all, that's character!

But saying that it's probably a bloody good way to get a bargain, I would look on there if I ever wanted to buy another horse.

i have to say i used that website for poppy and found her an excellent, its a great web site where you can be fully honest an open, even tho the horse may seem fine, if u enquired it may hav a story behind it which would put people off

Well, what's the problem with that? If the buyer is happy with what they are paying for the horse, who is to say it's over-priced? A horse is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
I know someone who put a nice Haffy on there, he was a decent price, and the only reason he was a "project" was that he was green-broke and she hadn't had time to bring him on.
If someone can't handle the fact that their horse chews a leadrope, and decides to find it a home then good for them. They know their limits (maybe they should consider getting a hamster...), but it's their decision and as they can't cope it's the right one.
