Bloomin 'eck!

Have just been looking on Project Horses to see whats about, I'm looking for a project I think for a buy and sell....some of those prices are extortionate!!!Regions of £3250 for a horse with 2ndry chest infection, nevrous and abit spooky, anxious and doesn't really like to hack on its own!

Gets better with suspected cold backed horse with ear plaque ad dislike of ears being touched at all at £2100...don't know if I dare look any further down!!

There is a lovely horse on there that I went to see, only just been put up for sale on there. She's just genuinely nervous, but has so much potential. I don't think she's over priced with her breeding and what she could be worth with a bit of work. I will agree though some are a bit overpriced on there... (just a bit

I enquired about a horse this week who couldn't be handled from the ground, couldn't be groomed because he lashes out and 'doesn't do flatwork becasue he doesn't like it, because he'd rather be jumping'. £3,000. Was I silly not to go for that bargain price?!

Mmm, I had a look after Sooty made a similar post about a month ago,a nd I agree - it's crazy what some people on there are asking

where are you? one of my friends at the yard has her horse on project horses at the moment advertised for long term loan. She is adorable

The prices on there just lately are an absolute joke.

Mind you, the prices on most horse websites are ridulously over inflated.

People seem to think that if they put the word 'potential' into an ad, they can then add another thousand or so to the asking price...

I have decided the way to earn money is...

1) Go to the continent and buy unbacked 2 year olds that the big studs have cast aside

2) Bring over here, smarten up, advertise as "Fantastic bloodlines, potential Grade A/PSG/Adv superstar"

3) Price at £6500, as that seems the norm

4) Sit back and watch the money roll in

....some people have got over-opinionated values on their horses I'm afraid Tinks - I'd expect a 100% sound horse without vices for a price tag like that!

I do like the grey Lusitano thingy on there.
Pretty fairly priced, and doesnt sound a lot wrong with it.
The site never fails to make me laugh. The adverts are like fairytales, the price's are hefty. Then you go to the wanted section and most are something like 'free to a good home'.

You could also train Benji and Freddy to cry and hang on to the horses too...

Worth baring in mind for when I have a tad bit more money!!Think my best bet keep a look out for the saner ex-racers from some people I know!!

Never ceases to amaze me the prices people expect for a horse that will just aboout do a clear round at 2ft 6"!

And why do people advertise a horse for sale that's 'got a huge jump' and stick in a pic of it jumping 2ft? Do these people seriously think that's a huge jump and that people will pay £6k for said ned?

I sold my TB who had flipped his brain after hunting and couldn,t cope with life for £1700 on PH. I wish I had kept him cos i still miss him like mad!! However, he is now jumping B Novice with his new owner and she loves him to bits. She got a bargain, and he got a great home, so there are happy endings from project horses.

OK, not wanting to start an arguement, but how did she get a bargain? If the horse had "flipped his brain" then surely ANY money for him was a bonus

the people on there live in a dream world a lot of the horses they would be lucky to be able to give away lol

Well said varkie. I went on the site last night and, FWIW I didn't think that most of the horses were particularly overpriced. There are always a few exceptions, of course
