Has anyone had any experiences of this?? My JRT had a sore back which was healing well and she then decided yesterday to have a completely crazy moment in the house which has resulted her waking up this morning with an extremely wobbly back end! She's on pain relief and NSAIDs. I'm just about to collect a cage for her, she's going back tomorrow for X-rays and some accupuncture. I'm just wondering if anyone had experience if this and the outcomes. I'm also wondering how I'm going to get her to wee, perhaps assist her back end by holding it up with a towl?

Our Dachshund had this. It's best not to leave it as he could end up with permanent damage. Our dog had surgery and the whole disc was removed. Apparently this causes no problems in dogs. He has now made a full recovery. Prior to the op he was in constant pain, wobbly on the back end and sitting down most of the time.

Our old Border Collie had two prolapsed discs, the first in her lumbar vertebrae, and a few years later in her cervical vertebrae. She was operated on at the RVC on both occasions successfully although she never regained her full agility, but she was ambulant and could still chase a ball, albeit at a slower pace.

Update: her X-rays showed calcification between some of the disc spaces. She went to hospital yesterday and had her MRI which showed three severe protrusions, she had to much swelling on her spinal cord to operate yesterday so it was done today, they are pleased with how it went and said she has an 80% chance of regaining most function. We are going to visit her tomorrow. Went she went to hospital she had neuro tests done and she only just had a pain response in her feet, she deteriorated very quickly (less than 12 hours) so we got her u before she got any worse. I can't wait to see her tomorrow! The road to recovery begins!

Been to visit my little girl today, she is doing well and managed a tail wag for me and my mum which is brilliant. The nurses are struggling to get her to eat so we took some chicken up with us and she ate some of that.
