Saddler has recommended a prolite pad with front shims since saddle needs lifting at the front. She has changed what she can and this should provide a good temporary measure until horse muscles up.
Is there a big difference between the prolite and the PE pads? Or is there a better third option?

I much prefer my griffin nuumed with shims pad. The prolite tends to escape out the front or back yet the nuumed doesn't move. It's also much softer feeling yet does the same job.

Thanks for the headsup about the griffin nuumed ones as been looking for something just like that!

Just had a Google to check price (I got mine second hand) and see they do a cheaper one which is more like the prolite I think. Mine is the 79.99 half pad one with wool lining and shims front and back. I think if I was buying another one I might just get the wool lined saddle cloth type with shims.

Couldn't find a price for the equivalent in prolite only either front or rear riser which is cheaper but I do think the nuumed is well worth the extra. One of my horses has needed the rear shimmed and then the front shimmed on the same saddle just because her shape has changed so much and this pad has allowed her to develop correct muscle so the saddle fits without it now.

Use a griffin one on RDA cob and bog hoss has a le Mieux, like them both in equal measure, and do not move either.

Personally I don't like foam shims - the thick ones leave an edge under the middle of the saddle (pressure point, instability) and the thin ones do very little. They are also slightly unstable in their nature which doesn't work for my market of wide horses. I recommend the Mattes shim system where you trim the shims to make a wedge, a much more logical way to shim a saddle. The shims are 5mm felt, stable, and can be trimmed and layered up in myriad ways.

Are they similar to the le mieux ones?

I don't know so I just had a look they are similar my nuumed ones have 3 pockets either side so you have front middle and back and they are sheepskin lined, I got mine from Lavinia Mitchell I think they were about £90, the Le mieux ones look like they have two pockets I do have a showing one like this it works just as well and is a half pad my others are full to the bottom of the saddle.
