Prolite Pads versus GFS Pads

I'm trying to find a Prolite Wide Relief pad - they're proving hard to come by in my area and very expensive on the web if you include P&P My local tack shop has ordered one but its taking ages to get here! Been waiting around a month so far!

My saddler has recommended that one. I trust him and I'm willing to wait for the wide relief pad to come into my local saddlery.

However, when I went in last night, owner of shop ripped into me about why wouldn't I use a GFS pad instead? I said my saddler had told me that the Prolite pad was the only one proven to work. She told me that was a blatant lie!

So I plan on speaking to Prolite later today. I wondered what your thoughts and experiences of these pads were please?

Prolite every time , but you shouldn't need one if your saddle fits ok not many saddlers agree with them !! I would think the lady in the shop wants to sell you one of the GFS ones as thats what she sells !! I got my wide prolite off the internet google I think p/p was free.

Thanks, just been speaking with a different saddle fitter and she recommended a Fieldhouse one. Or a Sheepskin numnah. But on speaking with that saddle fitter she doesn't think I need anything. Can't remember everything she said but it all fitted in with the mares shape when I purchased her and her gradual change in shape since I've been working her. I get the impression the mare was pulled in with draw reins in the past as her head was high and back arched but now she's working in a longer lower outline and I'm riding bareback anyway as no time to tack up and ride before dark and weekend we just ride to the field and back! Just re-building muscle and fitness slowly. In April I will be lunging, riding and using a pessoa on her so I think things will improve then.

prolite had excellent results in the Pliance pressure testing, better than any other pad on the market i was told, and better than sheepskin. i would hold out for a prolite personally.

Yes I agree with Kerrilli hold out for prolite you can get at Rideaway £43.99 (wide) I also bought the equllibrium massage pad and thats helped a lot but this year i bought a new saddle so I now have 2 saddles 1 for start of season and 1 for when fit I'm beginning to sort myself out now after years of horses with silly backs and all along its the saddle !!

Agree with everyone else. Prolite all the way. I have a nuumed numnah too but the prolite is better for when I bring T back into work.

Thats what my saddle fitter told me!
