My horse feels a little flat at the moment, am thinking of trying him on propell plus - has anyone else tried it and to what effect? Did it give them a little more oomph?

I used it when my TB was recovering from nasty virus. He'd had lots of time off so it was probably that which prompted him to bury me in Cirencester Park rather than the ProPell Plus!

All joking aside, he was pretty flat as he recovered and I thought it was great stuff for getting the "bloom" back on him, really helped him to pick up. There were extenuating circumstances to the complete rodeo in the park to be fair but I guess like anything, add gradually, particularly if horse has any tendency to be "hot"

Brilliant stuff, I use it on my daughters jumping pony give her a bit more fizz without making her to fat which is what happen if I give her more food!!
I keep her on a maintenance dose then a day or 2 before shows double the dose, the same as when were at away shows she has the doubled dose. She has a stunning coat since been on it too!!

It had no effect whatsoever on my cob, however when the (mental collie) dog got hold of it, it was like rocket fuel :rolleyes3: :biggrin3:

Genie's been on it for 2 years now to help her immune system which is a bit wonky. Never made a difference to her 'speed' wise - she's always been very forwards! However touch wood it has helped to prevent her from going downhill again.

We used it on a horse that was recovering from a virus that attacked his immune system & it did a good job. Wether it will give a horse zip is another thing. Many of these suppliments seem to effect different horses to different degrees, the only way to know is to try it.

Before you buy Propel Plus check the prices & sizes of containers & compare them with NAF EnerG, They are both similar stuff, making the same claims but sometimes there's a considerable difference in the price. I've used both & found them to be the same.

I put my 5 yr old warmblood on it last year when he was eventing fit but feeling like he was lacking the spark in the dressage and showjumping arenas, i gave him quite a dose to begin with as we were gearing up to the Milton Keynes 3DE.... must have worked as he gave me his best dressage score!!! After the event I moved him down to the maintenance level, but sadly he injured his tendon i didnt want to take him off it as it can also be used a general supplement, he is now coming back into work and feeling good think i will probably keep him on it he is one of those horses who doesn't react to high energy feeds! I tried competition mixes before trying propell plus and none of them worked like propell plus did!

I'd be cautious about using it unless you know your hay/grass isn't already high in iron which is unlikely in the UK.

My horse was a bit quiet so I had him blood tested which showed high liver enzymes, and an iron supplement would have exacerbated the problem.

Looking at the ingredients most horses will already have more than enough iron and manganese from their pastures as RobinHood says. My guess is that it's the potent sugar solution it's all disolved in that's making the difference to these horses. Much cheaper to buy a big bag of Tate and Lyle if you want the effects of a massive sugar hit.

Totally agree! My pasture is very very high in iron and the last thing I would want to do is add extra iron
