I am sure you are aware of the petition currently running but is everyone aware of the consutation document from DEFRA ? If they go ahead and include horses we will all have to pay a levey of £10.50 per head per year (and that's just the start!!) It's to fund disease control, so no one gets ill eating horses basically!

The list of consultees is totally unrepresentative for equines for instance they have consulted All cattle breed societies
All pig breed societies All poultry breed societies and All sheep breed societies EVEN Vegetarian Economy and Green Agriculture !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But all breed societies on the horse side despite OWNING the list of PIO's they have NOT chosen to consult all breed societies just the following??? (Just about everyone else got their say even the Supermarkets and the TUC but not us!)
I think you can just butt in and have your say either by replying or I would urge you to contact any of the below if you are a member (the consultation closes 30th June so be quick.)
