Is it me? Am I the only one that gets annoyed that prospective buyers do not call to say thanks but no thanks.

I have a few horses for sale (trying to reduce the amount of horses that I have) and having spent all morning getting the yard & horses ready for prospective buyers and spending time showing the horses off to their best despite the wind and rain. Why is it that people do not even call to say thanks but no thanks, they just walk from the yard and say they will give you a call after they seen some more horses.

Sorry for the moan but I feel just a quick call to say thanks for your time would not hurt? - but nothing.

How is the market at the moment? Is any thing selling?

Thanks for listening.

I agree with you and I think it is a sad fact of modern life that many people are just rude nowadays.
We have given a lot of stuff away on freecycle, often collected when we aren't here and very rarely does anyone actually say thank you.
I think it is a bad time of year for selling horses, people thinking about Xmas and it being too cold for horsey chores LOL!

Most could tell you before they leave but don't want to offend - Very british. I remember looking at a lovely horse that would have been ideal for me about 3 years ago, and I left thinking he would be perfect. Had long argument with wife about it and agreed to see a couple of other horses . It was about 3 weeks later that I actually decided on another horse and was a bit embarassed to ring up after such a long time. I'm sure he sold quickly or the owner changed her mind about selling. Thinking back , I still wish I had bought him - Sorry Freddies mum!

It gets on my nerves as well. If I'm looking at a horse and it's not what I'm after I will always say straightaway as I would hate to build anyones hopes up. It's not offensive to say 'your horse is lovely but it's not exactly what I'm looking for'.

Someone came to look at a horse I had for sale a few years ago. She took one look at him and said he wasn't what she was looking for, she wouldn't even get on his back! I appreciated her honesty as it saved wasting time for both of us.

People often do need to go away and have a think but it's common courtesy to phone if the answer is no.

I'm horse hunting at the moment and have always given the seller either an immediate answer (when completely wrong for me) or a phone call after further consideration. There was one horse I didn't even ride after seeing my 'expert' friend ride her - it was never going to work between us.

I also make a point of phoning back as soon as I have made my mind up - that way the seller can look to other buyers.

I won't be stopping my search just because Christmas is coming - I might miss the perfect horse.

Although there seem to be loads of horses for sale - it is sooooo difficult to find the right one. Probably because as a beginner I need get it right first time.

On the other side of the fence - howabout prospective sellers that do not return calls???

I do find this infuriating - I am pretty sure I give too much away when leaving my message, I think they know their horse won't be suitable so don't bother returning my call - hey ho...
