Hi all,
I have an elderly horse (25) and obviously as he's older he's not in top tip competing condition, I want to carry on riding him (just for a hack out, maybe a light school) but my worry is with his age and because he doesn't have brilliant muscles i don't want to damage his back with the saddle, is there anything anyone can suggest to protect his back?

Thanks in advance, have a nice day :)

If he's lost a lot of topline then padding should help, using something like a pro lite adjustable pad or Le chameau do an adjustable saddle pad/numnah where you can buy additional shims of different thicknesses, it's probably worthwhile getting the saddle fit checked. :)

I use a Korrector pad on my 28 year old, which has airbags in it to spread the load of the saddle evenly on his back. I also mollycoddle him something rotten, riding in a quarter sheet in this bitter wind:)
