protecting my gypsy cob from theft

See if you can find your local Horsewatch branch - I got some fabulous signs from them after having all my stuff pinched from the field and my trailer damaged (couldnt get through the old fashioned hitch lock mwahaha)

I have one on the locked shed door saying everything is smart water marked and one on the gate saying the horses are freezemarked and police patrol the area regularly.

Fake cameras in obvious places are a good deterrent, and you can get padlocks that SCREAM if interfered with!

well the purple feathers are causing quite a stir, lol. He is really enjoying being next to the YO's house - so he is very happy, and I'm much more relaxed, tho roll on sunday. x

First of all please don't confuse true gypies with travellers, I have yet to see a disloyal, thieving gypsy, they are always clean, polite and care for their horses, where as travellers cause mayhem, mess and trouble as well as being aggresssively abusive and scary. (just based on my experiences)

Back to the topic,
I heard that travellers plaited horses manes very late at night to be marked for stealing, so imagine my horror when I saw my horse had a very messy tangled plait in his mane. That night both my horses were moved to another yard on police advice. The yard he went to was a friend and she is a policewoman as well.
It was a lot of bother but worth it for my horses safety and he was not a coloured but a full Hackney.

However now I am not so sure it was travellers as he has since had the same tangle in his mane and I am now convinced he does it himself rubbing his neck on the fencing.

It's the wind and the 'plaits' are windtangles.
