I have recently acquired a welsh cob from my friend who no longer had time for her she has been out of ridden work for quite a while, i will be bringing her back into work this summer and working on her jumping from scratch was looking for suggestions of body protectors i am a size 12 34DD and have had experience with them being constrictive so has anyone found any makes that are particularly good.

Also the horse is quite nervous while ridden and has not really done any jumping so do you thing i should use boots on her as well to prevent injures?

She is a very quick learner but just a bit unsure of herself how can i reassure her? If anyone has any similar experiences and advice for me as to bringing this mare back into work i would really appreciate it.
 
I have the Racesafe RS2000, I find this sooooo comfortable, and can even forget I have it on, unlike my old BP which was restrictive and very uncomfortable. The Racesafe zips up at the front, but is adjustable at the side in corset fashion. So you can have it slightly larger on top and slimer at the bottom if you wanted. Hope this helps.
 
thanks this looks great like the idea of the adjustable sides any idea on what their sizing is equivalent to?
 
The Kanteq is supposed to be super comfortable for us lady riders. YO has one and she raves about it all the time, this after being anti body protector her whole life as they never fitted over her boobs properly

Only thing that puts me off is the price tag, though if it lasts you 5 years and saves you broken bones it's not a bad investment :)
 
Unfortunatly i dont think my budget can strech this far which is a shame it looks pretty good, like how they personalise it based on your height and size if only more did this.

I have to admit i used to hate wearing a body protector when i was younger and ended up taking a layer of foam out of one of my old ones so i could actually move naughty i know kind of defeats the object of them and once it got to small i never did replace it. Im quite bewildered by all the different styles.
 
Ditto racesafe ones! Mould to you more than any other BP I've had [Size 10-12, and 34F....so yes, they do cater for us well! lol]
 
Rodney powell will also do made to measure and it doesn't cost any more, off the peg would not fit me so am waiting for my made to measure to arrive, guess they must have a bit of a back order though as I have been waiting for a bit.
 
after several people with race safe ones all recommended them i will soon be replacing mine with them.

maybe brushing boots for your horse? not sure never use boots myself my horse has lots of feather and we mainly do hacking and smaller jumps.
 
I have an old racesafe one (with the padding going across rather than down and the large elesticated waste fixing) it fits really well on my chest due to the across padding as I too am busty (Size 12 - 34E).

As for boots I'd say no as shes a cob if she does clip the poles when learning it will teach her to pick her feet up (omg that sounds really bad doesn't it!! I don't mean it badly if your going XC then I would but just for little plastic poles in the school it wouldn't matter)
 
hehe no i dont think we will be tackling XC just yet so i wont bother with the boots just yet. Thanks for all your help, I will be ordering a racesafe soon, hopefully i wont be falling off to much but id rather be safe just incase :D
