Protein in diet

If you wanted to add extra protein into your horses diet without changing the feed entirely how would you do it?

I have heard of people adding eggs to their horses feed but I'm not sure how I feel about this!

Also, is there any danger in a horse eating too much protein?

Eggs where feed in the dark ages , horses are veggies so not a good idea. I just add a source of high protein fibre to the diet if I need to Alfafa cubes and readi grass are what I normally try.

Alfalfa/lucern is probably the easiest way to get more protein into the diet. Feed too much protein and it's usually wasted, ie they pee it away. Occasionaly excess protein causes a skin reaction.
