Out of interest.. I have a yearling and she is fed on Saracen Level Grow Mix (which is 14% Protein and so far she is looking great on it and were both happy...She is meant to make 14.2+ however she is still very small (Hoping she will take a growth spurt soon!!).

I was recommended by Saracen to feed her solely on the Stamm 30 (which is included in the level grow mix but not as high a ratio as feeling it alone obviously). The Stamm 30 is 30% Protein, this is considerably higher than most feeds.

Just wondering what peoples opinions are? I don't doubt Saracen know there stuff! (Pic of the young one attached, late foal born august 2018). Sire was 14.2 Dam was 15.2

Protein is used by the body for growth, repair and replacement, so obviously their thinking is that adding more protein to the diet, you'll get more growth.
Too much growth too quickly and you'll get developmental problems, too little and the pony will take longer to mature.

What quantities were Saracen suggesting? Are they proposing you feed smaller amounts of the 30% compared to the 14%? So that she wouldn't be getting twice as much?

Do you want to do youngstock showing or are you just waiting to ride her in the future?
