I am looking for something for all round gut health for my 2. Is protexin worth the extra money? Or is yea sacc just the same?

It's not just the same my vet explained the difference but it went in one ear and out the other .
It did however sort out my TBs tummy and he's a much happier boy for it .

Said this before but Protexin literally gave my horse his life back. After repeated colic and many inconclusive investigations at equine clinic, we were considering PTS. Then someone suggested Protexin. He hasn't looked back

Which Protexin product? Gut Balancer? If so, it contains a pro- (healthy bacteria) and prebiotic (food that stimulates growth of natural, beneficial bacteria), and a yeast. Yea-Sacc is just live yeast.

I really rate Gut Balancer, had a lot of success with it.

One of mine is slightly bloated all the time, but doesn't seem uncomfortable. His droppings are always very slightly soft. The other used to have perfect droppings, but since changing to this years hay they have also gone slightly soft. The consistency is on slightly softer than normal, they are still pretty well formed, but the have vastly increased in quantity!

Not sure whether to try yeas sacc for a little while as it is cheaper? Or go,straight to protexin, but might not be able to afford it long term

I use protexin gut balancer for my tb, I rate it, particularly worming time, without it he gets a little dull for a few days and an event line on his feet. He's laminitic ( had the hormone tests and all negative ) and he's a sensitive type of horse anyway and I think it helps.

Started my horse on protexin this month (used to use yea-sacc). Recommended by Tarrsteps. My mare has put on weight already and less grumpiness despite moving to a field with a lot more grass for the winter. This would usually be a trigger for grumpy behaviour due to hind gut irritation. I really rate it!

I tried the protexin gut balancer... Set my boy back completely, put him back on his alltech lifeforce (with yea sacc) and we haven't looked back, can't rate it highly enough, wouldn't waste my money on the protexin again. But all horses are different! I have half a tub of protexin looking for a home if anyone wants it!

Just out of interest, how come you don't like protexin?

That's a bit vague - care to expand?

I did a post on it a while ago, I put mine on it for help with weight gain after their rep came out, she ended up losing 30kg and all her muscle tone. Protexin dealt with it terribly and their answer was not our fault.
Just taken me 3 months to get the weight back on before I can start to work her up again, lost the end of the season competing and everything. :(
Felt most guilty for my poor girl who I thought I was trying to help!

If it works good luck, if not don't bother to contact them as they are awful to deal with and just want problems to go away without helping/resolving.
