My mare has been ill for quite some time, was diagnosed with Equine herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy. She is over that now but her immune system is through the floor and she is picking up every little thing. Has eye infections, mud fever which was infected and she looks awful but is slowly gaining weight, she's been colicy, had temperature of 40.1 two weeks ago but its remaining at 37.8 now which is her normal temp.

I have weekly check ups with the vet and she agrees her immune system is low , she's on 4 feeds a day with adlib haylage.
I want to add a probiotic to her feed, can anyone recommend Protexin?
I have given her equimins pro flora which helped her over her colicy episodes so am hoping protexin will up give her an extra boost.

Brilliant stuff, both the gut balancer and the paste syringe, that is great for a kick start.

Thanks I ordered the recovery aid but will grab the gut balancer and syringe too. I'll keep her on the balancer after she has finished the recovery aid course.

I am never without a tub of this as soon as they are compromised for any reason they go on it .
It was a six month course at the high dose that finally settled down by TB's skitty system.

Great stuff used it when required for years. Imho quality product much imitated!
I also think it helps stressy horses and poor doers. We use it when competing away from home for few days before and after routinely.

I give the gut balancer to my boy who has had lami. Really to give some protection as he's been on Bute for quite some time. It's expensive though.
