Anyone out there have experience of the Prototype German Jumping D-Flex multi-adjustable saddles? I'm looking for a cheap 'n' cheerful jumping/eventing saddle for my young irish sports horse. He will never ever be a top eventer or show jumper this is purely for his education and hopefully to have a bit of fun in local competitions! So I don't want or need anything expensive plus I can have this saddle made to measure. But I'd be really interested to know if anyone is using one of these saddles and what they think.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

Before you go down this route, you might wish to have a chat with Wagtail on here. I am pretty sure that this is the make she dissected and found many things not quite right. I could be quite wrong, in which case I take it all back.

But looking at them, they don't look as ergonomic as they purport to be. I think you would be better off having a look at a Thorowgood. You can get the T8 hybrid for not much more than the price of the above second hand. And at least they are a trusted UK brand.

It is indeed, HeresHoping! OP, don't touch these with a bargepole. Especially if they are being sold by someone on eBay. I don't remember the name of the seller, but they were really slow refunding me (around 2 months) and have 100% feedback due to some insider help from eBay. My negative feedback was removed! The saddle was dangerous. The stirrup bars were sharp and sloping so that the leathers fell off unless the catch was up. The flocking was lumpy and the panels were unsymmetrically placed. If you want something cheap and cheerful, buy a second hand Thorowgood or similar and get it correctly adjusted to your horse.

thw words pole and barge come to mind since I know of a distributor and got to ride in one someone had to trial a while back

Hi all - just adding to this thread. I’ve just bought a d flex saddle from helpyourhorses.co.uk. Wish I’d seen this conversation before I bought but can thankfully send back. Saddle purports to be German but is so badly made it looks like it’s made in china or India. All parts are glued and stapled together and screws and staples were sticking out under the flaps on mine. Doesn’t look like it would last five minutes and looks like it would easily fall apart whilst being used. The saddle is a special draft saddle but is so poor it weighs half as much as my shire’s current small saddle. Again would advise to stay away!
