protruding frogs?

Does anyone know if this could cause a problem for the horse. We had the farrier out & he said that one horse had protruding frogs but never said anything else. I asked if it was a problem for the horse, but he started talking about something else!
 
I think he must have meant prolapsed frogs, in which case you might find this article interesting:

My ex-husbands horse had prolapsed frogs. They caused him no particular issues and did improve with correct shoeing but my farrier had to shoe him one foot at a time because he couldn't stand comfortably barefoot for more than a few minutes.
