Bear found a ball in the woods this morning, so he stayed close and we played fetch until it got too slobbery. He came back without it, so I sent him to seek it. He came back with a baby rabbit instead :( Poor little thing was on its last gasp.

I thought Bear would eat it, but he wanted me to throw it for him! I had to stamp on its head cos I couldn't leave dying in agony. Brig (Mr I refuse to eat whole rabbits ) promptly nicked it and devoured it!

I don't know whether to be proud that Bear did what he's bred to do, horrified that I had to put it out of its misery or happy that Brig has taken to raw food so well! Icky!

My friends gun dog does this and she lets them go unharmed, he has a very soft mouth.

My Dobes are different everything they catch they eat which is gross, Diesels latest escapade was to have a wood pigeon fly out the hedge and being slow heavy birds they take a while to make some height. Diesel leapt in the air and grabbed it crunch, it was gone in 30secs feathers, feet everything. I think he is telling me he wants to go raw.:D

Ewww - typical spaniel!

My spaniel brought me back an adult live hare once - it must have been previously injured for him to get it. But I had nothing on me to despatch it :(

I told him to drop (Dead) and we all ran back to my truck to find something to knock it over the head with but by the time we got back to it, it was dead anyway :(

Shame that - we have a very healthy population of hares and I enjoy seeing them.

Now rabbits on the otherhand ;) Well, Flyn goes mad at the rabbit holes, he sticks himself as far down as he can and barks a really high pitched bark (normally a total silent dog) - poor rabbits must be deafened!

Infact I think all the rabbits in this area of Exmoor are deaf now ;)

Mine can't be bothered with feathers, had to teach Digger how to pluck pigeons, so he takes off the beast feathers and helps himself now, blue would rather wait for tea, he likes his chicken plucked!!
