Finally had a weekend off work so booked in for some dressage. Haven't had a dressage outing for a long time as been working on our jumping so been using trips out to go to clinics instead of competing.
Worst preparation ever leading up to competition. Beginning of the week was at a really stressful 2 day course for work which resulted in a 4 day migraine. Finally felt more human by Friday but hadn't managed to learnt tests properly or ride through them.
Lovely civilised times for sat morning. Toddled off with plenty of time. Had it planned that p2 was first and p7 was second. However had got it totally wrong and p7 was first. Only found out as going into the arena. Luckily have done p7 before and managed to remember it. Phew!
Pony warmed up the best he ever has and he felt so relaxed. For a very stressy boy this is such an achievement. Went into the arena and he just tensed up. Managed to get through the test but came out feeling frustrated.
Had half an hour before next test so let him chill for a while at the box before going back in. Short warm up then into the main arena for the next test. This arena is much less spooky and pony felt fab. Slightly behind the leg so had to work harder but so relaxed and soft over his back. Was so thrilled that forgot my test and made a mistake. Sack the jockey!
Big pats for the pony and loaded him back on box to go and get sheets. Thrilled to find had placed 2nd in first class with 71.36% and 6th in the second class with 68.1% so proud of the boy. These were big improvements in scores as been getting low to mid 60s in our tests.
Proud that the hard work is paying off. He is such a quirky little thing and thinks life is out to get him. No pictures as on my own. If you have got this far thanks for reading 🙂
