proud flesh

I know there is some stuff that i can use for proud flesh but can't think what it is. Can i get it off the shelf or do i have to go to the vets for it, also what's it called again.

We once used something called "white lotion" that my vet gave me that you put on with a bit of cotton wool. Didnt have a technical name !

When my hunter mare kicked a fence and had massive pround flesh the vet got me stuff called equi aid.. you can buy it on line tho.. It comes in a wee pot and you paint it on.. it was amazing stuff and basically ate the pround flesh away but didnt damaged the under lying skin...

I used a steroid crem so had to come from vets. Fantastic stuff came in a small tube.

i used those crystals which the vet gave to me. This was about 10 years ago now, sorry I am no help I can't remember their name but they were blue and worked a treat!

Bess, thank you so much for posting this. We have a mare that we have been treating with an injury now for 6-7 weeks, still changing dressings every two days, and we are struggling to keep the proud flesh at bay. It is pretty amazing how blinking quick it can grow even when cleaning the leg and washing it down!!

So we are desperate to try anything that will help heel the leg because as you can imagine the mare is getting pretty darn fed up about the whole escapade! Plus she is due to foal the beginning of April.

So anything to help speed up the progress will be of great benefit.
