I don't think I've ever really popped a proud post on here. But I'm so over the moon I couldn't help myself. It's long, I'm so sorry but I can't help myself. They'll be mcflurries all round at the end I promise!

For anybody that didn't know, my lovely horse is a bit quirky and special. Her name is Fizz and she often lives up to it. In under a year I'd fallen off her 11 times, 3 in one week with 2 in the same half an hour. I got very good at her special, jump a fence, have a little bronc and then duck to the left moves, so much so I never even had the second day ache!
We had just mastered show jumping at 80cm with the aim to potentially have a go at a BE80cm at the end of 2017 season when December 2016 she was kicked in the field and broke her splint bone.

After waiting for it to fix itself, which it never did, she went to Rossdales for surgery February this year and stayed in for 12 days as bad behaviour meant she kept reopening the surgery site. She spent, in total, 4 months confined to her stable and had to have 4 mls of sedalin twice a day to keep her quiet. I got to get on her for two weeks before she was kicked again on the opposite leg and spent another week in Rossdales the middle of May for potential tendon sheath damage.

Luckily my mare is hard as nails and June 5th I started bringing her back into work. I quickly discovered that, despite her surprisingly impeccable behaviour, I must have put my brave pants in the wash last year and misplaced them. I had quite a few anxiety attacks, couldn't even get on without rescue remedy and contemplated why this all happens to me, but cracked on.
I had today's date on my calendar since she was injured as our aim and today we did it.

Our rehab was pushed back another week as she helpfully removed her own shoe by standing on herself and going foot sore for a week, so I'd only actually jumped her a handful of times before today but off we trotted for a 70cm hunter trial.

It took two shots of alcohol to get me on but my horsey did me proud. She thundered round the pairs and individual like she'd never had time off. We got penalties for taking both options at the two waters (a slope in and jump out as opposed to a jump in) because she didn't fancy getting those precious feet wet, but I'm proud as punch. She took me round. I didn't fall off. And we reached our target. Albeit both a sweaty, unfit (and both supporting more chub then usual) pair of messes we did it.

I also got to meet the lovely Old Nag and her two girls, both I hope enjoyed themselves, I didn't manage to watch her daughter go round the 80cm as the heavens opened and my chauffeuring father declared it to be home time, but they have some very pretty ponies!

Thankyou for reading, and thankyou for all the people on here that have offered me support and advice. I'm over the moon!
Best crack on at the 80's again myself now!

Edited to add: thank god for over ready boots as the clumsy git managed to rip one off half way round. But rather a boot then a shoe!

Well done, and it was lovely to meet you and Fizz. She's gorgeous. You would never know she has been off games so recently, looking at her!

We got a bit rained and thundered on, but had a good day. Daughter got placed in the 80/85, first time she has done a course that height.

Yes the rain came down quite literally the minute I finished my individual!
Thankyou, it's a good job she's pretty!

Wowowow that's fantastic congratulations! No stopping her now then!

Wonderful report, super well done! She's looking great after those injuries, onwards and upwards! I look forward to the next report :)

Goodness, I can't believe you've come back so well from all those injuries - what a real credit to you.

How was the gate opening obstacle in the end?

Thankyou guys! I did worry that I'd bitten off a bit more then I could chew having only taken her out to pony parties twice since June and both were dressage. I'd only jumped a handful of times before this as well, but as I'd had this planned in my head since the week after her kick in December, I just had to have a go!

She's still sound and her legs seem none the worse for Saturday, so I have decided to book myself into another hunter trial October 1st, this time 80cm. I bought her to low level event, so fingers crossed our dream is still on the cards, maybe just a year behind!

The gate was fine actually, there was no latch and it swung itself back shut, so it was easy peasy actually!

Well done. You've both been through a lot. It's an achievement to come through the other side of that type of anxiety.
