My youngster has just come home after been away for backing.

However this morning we had our first hack together, had a trot and canter in a stubble field and went through a fast flowing ford several times which was quite full with all the recent heavy rain.

Warning picture overload!

Such a lovely video. Love the "Ooohhh this is a new thing" face and yet absolute trust that mum knows best. Gorgeous horse, lucky you!

He has always been curious about things and just love his attitude

What a lovely horse you have there. I hope you have lots of fun together :)

Thank you. The plan is to have fun and spend the next year seeing the world out on hacks.

Fabulous! It's such a feel-good-factor when you get them out and about and they are perfect! :)

Thank you SF.

Wow what a fabulous young horse, very well done and do not worry about being proud mad horsey mum.

I am also out and about on my 4 year old though she is not quite as bold as your youngster, it is still a buzz as I bred her and I am an old and nervy rider.

Oo, that ford is scary! My 16yr old ex chaser wouldn't go through as happily as that (in fact not at all!). You must be very proud of your baby.

Hobo - he always has been curious and quite confident and upfront investigating things without being overcocky if you know what I mean. Good luck with your youngster and being a homebred, wow, that must be some feeling :D

Mixed bag - LOL not sure if my 13 year WBx would have gone through it as calmly either!

Lolita- I know yesterday's weather was both ends of the scale. Very heavy rain in the morning then gorgeous sunshine inbetween showers later on! Scottish weather is typically four seasons in one day!

Spent this morning sorting out tack as none of my other saddles fit him. Friend came to the rescue who had various cob type saddles and good selection of shorter girths than those I have so we spent a lot of time see what I could use until the fitter comes along next week.
