Sophie (just 11) went first.... its the first time she has ever jumped more than one jump at a time..... There were 12 today not counting the second part of the double!!!

Then Zoe (13) had a crack..... she has jumped a bit more though

They rode so well, and even I had a go at the end... but my pics are too shameful to put on here

Some nice comments to encourage them would be nice.... especially as Sophie lost her stirrups before the last jump (when she jumped the sepia jump) and managed to come off at the end.... she is sporting some crackin bruises

Zoe has a beautiful little jumping position. Well done girls!! Merlin looks a wee bit strong, but maybe Sophie could "give" a little more with her hands? Both your girls look like they're having fun, and that's the most important thing!!

Well done girls, you look great and he's a big strong boy for you to contain, so doubly well done. Hope your not too sore in the morning Soph, good job you are young and still bounce!!!

I don't know look at the angle of the bit in Merlins mouth, looks like Soph has next to no contact, so nothing to give. I do however think her stirrups could be a littel shorter, then she good fold more, which would enable her to allow her hands more forward if/when she takes more contact.

Well done both of you and Merlin.

He he.... Lakeside_Dreamer..... If only you could see how strong merlin gets.... he is a bugger.... the more he jumps the worse he gets

Here is another couple of pics which shows how Sophie was jumping before he got fast and strong

From the sublime to the rediculous

And seconds from disaster... he was really going some
frown.gif
She would have stayed on if he hadnt stopped so quickly by the exit

OuiOui..... but then I would have to punch more holes in the leathers

I agree though, they both ride a bit long.

Thats what no lessons does for you
frown.gif
Poor deprived kids, they dont get lessons other than from me
frown.gif
and I am sure there will be plenty of people to say that I am no teacher
grin.gif

ets.... I am always telling her to shorten her reins..... she usually has them flapping round his neck!!! I think maybe she shortens her reins by bending her elbows..... and then looks like she is hanging on by them... in reality, as you have said, she has little contact.

Well I think they have done really well. When I was about 13 I started jumping and I think I flew over on my own more than on the pony! And losing your stirrup isnt a big problem (I did it the other day and fell off too!) as long as eveyone had fun it doesn't matter if technique isn't perfect because you have plenty of time over the summer and a gorgeous looking pony to perfect the technique on.

You mean cow are you still making them struggle rather than having extra holes in your leathers!!!

NO.....Their legs must grow!!!

He was such a good boy though.... he had every opportunity to run out (long reins) and he didnt do it once
smile.gif
Even at the scary filler

OMG - Merlin is the ultimate family pony
smile.gif

What a star he is, bless him - and both girls look fabulous, how brave of them to give it go
smile.gif

Hope Sophie's not too battered and bruised by this "dangerous mission"!

She keeps appearing and telling me of the bad headache she has and how her hip hurts
frown.gif
I keep sending her back to bed in the hope that she is ok really
shocked.gif

She did hit the deck hard
frown.gif
Still I may not have to share my wonderful family (killer) pony for much longer if it happens again
grin.gif

LOL - but by the looks of it, she fell on sand - surely there can't be too much damage!

A couple of spoonfuls of Calpol always used to satisfy my kids!

Yep soft and sandy.... but boy it got everywhere
smile.gif
She did a bit of a skid and roll
smile.gif
smile.gif

Could have been worse if she had hit one of the jumps or the exit barrier which was within spitting distance..... Merlin was being kind today
shocked.gif

Lovely pictures
smile.gif
. I think they both did very well indeed (a darn sight better than me and I a darn sight older than them lol).

Merlin was a good lad
smile.gif
Ok, he got a bit strong, but such is the life of horses. Tell Sophie that we've just about all either jumped the fence without the benefit of the horse coming with us, and/or lost a stirrup and parted company that way

*wanders off to find a spare hole punch/set of leathers to send to MQ
