I cant beleive I am doing a proud mummy post but wanted to share as none of my friends get it ! took my 3 year old to her first show yesterday, first show with pony too. both were superstars. only did LR pony but she managed to do rising trot all the way round ring staying really balanced, she doesnt really use the reins yet as getting her seat and balance sorted first and pony didnt put a foot wrong all day despite it being all new and exciting - he is a bit big for LR pony at 13.1 but was fun show and she clearly is LR rider ! he was lead off nose band as per rules and walked trotted and stood beautifully all off voice. So proud of them both ! - sorry no pictures as stupid camera didnt work. oh and got red frilly as pony was so so good and responsive to be led and moved nicely !

That is so lovely and can just imagine the scene. Please get some piccies up asap - would love to see them.
Well done Team JLD.

That is fantastic! :D I can't wait to do shows with my little girl :)

How did you get your daughter riding? We bought a little Shetland for my daughter when she was 18 months old and she's now almost 3 years old. She loves to groom her pony and will have the odd sit on her but isnt really in to 'riding' yet. I haven't pushed it as I've been happy for her to get her confidence on the ground so far but it's interesting to hear from other people in a similar position :)

hello - we didnt push ours either. I used to be on livery with my boy and there was a pony for her to ride whenever she wanted and she would have the odd sit but really wasnt bothered - usually wanting to get off after about 3 mins, so we just let her. I lost my old boy , pony needed a home and came to us when she was about 3 1/2. we just ask her if she wants to ride at weekends when 2 of us around if she does great if no doesnt matter she started off just doing 1 lap of field now does 3-4 and does singing games - head shoulders knees and toes etc, touching mane tail hands on head etc, now got some coloured cones we make up games round and some beanbags to put in buckets etc ( suggested on here ). all very low key, bit of trot if she fancies it - we dont have a school so we do hills and under trees etc just as part of pottering round. not teaching her as such yet just having fun. she brushes the bits she can reach and gets me things and picks up poo !. found her tacking up and rugging up her rocking horse in doors the other day, chatting away to it making sure it was all comfy ! I think having fun being safe and getting balance is this most important bit. I try to remember it is my hobby and only hers if she chooses to do it !
