OMG! Is that Larry, the 1st horse in your sig WHW? He is absolutely stunning! How, how, how do you get his feathers like that??? Do you keep him wrapped in cotton wool and bubble wrap in a bare concrete stable 24/7????? Just had to clip my girlie's not-so-beautiful feathers off coz she gets silly about having them intensively seen to and she had dreadful feather mites and gunk and muck stuck deep in them. Hasten to add I've only had her 18 months and she's a rescue girl - her feathers were w-a-y down the list of the urgent life-saving help she needed! Would love to be able to grow them back. She's ok now about them being brushed and washed. Any tips? x
Sorry it's too wide... maybe when I have another hour to spare i'll shorten it lol.
Box _of_Frogs... No, he is certainly not wrapped in cotton wool! He lives out in a muddy field, gets mites sometimes and once had mud fever :-O
Basically, I leave his lower legs well alone in winter and pretend they aren't dirty. Come spring he gets washed and made presentable. Mites get treated once or twice a year when they flare up with Frontline (for fleas, you can get it in large spray bottle, i can get it for just over a tenner rather than £40 from vets). I clipped feather off when he had mud fever but that was heart breaking.
