Sooo we're almost in the last week of 2011 .... so I thought a fun thread to keep you occupied whilst you're waiting for Santa would be a proud moments thread!! :)

What have you and your horse achieved/overcome this year? What has your horse done to make you a proud mum/dad? If you've got any pictures of said proud moments then share them!

I'll go first;

Moment 1) I'm a total novice rider. Brought my first horse (Bailey) this March, and after three months together we jumped this :) Was so proud that he looked after me over the jumps and that I plucked up the confidence to give jumping a go!

**i know my position is awful I do apologise!

Moment 2) Bailey is a bad napper, and after 9 months of tears and tantrums (his and mine) today we hacked out together and he didn't nap ONCE. I got off and had a little proud tear in my eye, we've come so far together and I couldn't be prouder of him - especially as we had to go past a bin bag  and a TRACTOR!!:eek:

So please share, I really want to hear your success stories :)

LOVE SOPHIE xx

My proudest moment is my 20yr old mare holding her ground against bigger and faster horses in the horse boarding comps!! ;D Consistency is key and she is a star out the start box!! ;) Its not me riding her as i was competing my other mare but i am sooooooo proud of my little lady! She is only 14.1hh and was my first ever pony, love her to bits!! :D

Ah what a lovely story :)
I bought Ellie a year and a half ago as a project, she did nothing but buck and be a general pain in the ass and her owner couldnt get rid of her fast enough!! Now though, she's my baby, we've worked hard together and she's like a different horse, in fact I can't even remember the last time she bucked and she schools like a dream! My proudest moment was taking her to her first ever XC and coming 6th! This horse hasnt done much jumping, and has never done a XC course in her life..., the bond we have got us round that day, she thrives on "good girls" and praise and after every jump she just grew with confidence. It was an amazing feeling, I actually cried when I got off her because it made all the blood, sweat n tears worth it. One very proud moment :)

Can I have two proud moments lol ;-)
My son has had his 10.3 for nearly two years, she's taught him everything and they are great together. We were preparing for a local show in November and were doing some little jumps like the clear round would be, and with a little burst of confidence my 8 yr old son and his 10,3 pony were sailing over a 2,3 jump :). I can tell you how proud I was of them both, such superstars.

I got Ned in the school alone and won 2nd twice!! I know I've mentioned both of those a hell of a lot, but they make me smile :)

And yes, I am going to post this picture again!!
Just proves how much the love of his owner and friends (equine and human) have changed him for the better!

My gelding - when he chased all the bullies off the hay feeder and then indicated to those lower in the pecking order to join him.

My first mare - how brave she was going through all the lameness work ups.

My current mare - competing in our first few shows having fallen off & broken my back 6 months earlier. I'd only owned her 3 months & it was our second time jumping.

this is a very heart warming thread :)

i can't think of one just my pony in general, cheesy i know - but this last year she has just transformed and she makes me so proud! she has done everything i've asked of her and far exceeded any ones expectations of her, just owning her and knowing all the hard work does pay off makes me proud!

He now shows with my younger sister and my proudest moment was when the won there first. Supreme championship I was crying and the other proudest moment was qualifying for the RIHS that was a highlight this year they have won 26 Champions and has 2 supreme titles!! I love my horses so much and I love to see my sister happy!! There's nothing like that feeling :0)

Proudest mummy moment for Millie this year, after a horrendous accident where she was very nearly PTS she developed a serious aversion to coloured poles. Well a couple of weeks ago she did this:
385010_10150398188075810_565680809_8914472_959372337_n.jpg

and this morning she lunged over 6 poles in a circle without throwing a single wobbly! Usually she has a hissy fit on both reins!

Olly makes me proud every day, I love that little cob

Star had her eye removed in March because of cancer. 7 weeks later, the one eyed, ***** pony ( :D ) showed those baby dressage horses a thing or two when she got the best dressage marks she's ever had.
I cried on my way out of the arena, I was so proud of her.

One of my proudest moments may sound very silly and small....took my TB out for a hack and ended up on a main road, I pulled into a long drive to let the traffic past as we were stood there a woman came out of her house with her dog, the dog ran towards my horse and must have caught its owner off guard as she let go of him. My star of a horse who had already been a bit spooky stood like a rock as the dog ran rings around him, he had an extendable lead the plastic part was making such a racket being dragged around.
My boy is usually very well behaved and not typically 'spooky' his spooks are always very genuine but I think he would have put many horses to shame with how well he coped. After all the noise scared the life out of me!

Two proud moments - first one was taking my 5 year old to David broomes and getting placed twice out of 40! Very proud and the second was when my friend (who's a fantastic rider but nervous about jumping) road my 5 yr old and she walked/trotted/cantered and jumped her up to 2'6! I was so proud of gem as she nannied her so well and didn't step out of line once! :) very proud mum!

With Milly it was her winning her first Champion. She did exceptionally well this season and on this particular day she won 3 classes, was 2nd in the other, took Reserve Champion Welsh Part-Bred, and Champion Youngstock!

Very tiny achievement compared to the rest of you....but my proudest moment was my first canter after getting back on a horse following a nasty fall that fractured my spine. My golden hearted mare seems to know I'm a bit fragile and in spite of her 'spooky' past she has transformed and always looks after me. Bless her.

I had a massive proud owner moment the other day when I was hacking Ted and an enormous Hercules plane flew directly over him at about 30ft high. It was truly terrifying but he just did a small spook and came back to me straight away. I was just so proud because we were on our own and facing home so he could quite easily have taken advantage.

When I got my first horse home on March 4th this year. Then getting the very spooky 14yo who is petrified of water to jump water trays and walk through puddles. Very small achievement but I was very proud.

Progressing with the dressage, we have had no reds yet but a few yellows and greens and one blue, hopefully we can improve in 2012!

Sophie makes me proud everyday.:p She is the best pony in the world. She is just so fab!:) Will has really matured and he was in a bit of a state when me and my mum got him(we share him). In May he couldn't trot in the school and now he can collect, do figure of eights, circles and serpentines! I'm proud of them anyway.:D

Getting Handy sound :) and hacking out in company without hotting up or being silly! He was supposedly unrideable when I bought him :) There are little things that make me proud of him all the time, like today when he let me pick out all 4 feet (he's had a lot of foot issues and reluctant to let me touch). Anything now is a bonus.

I have lent my wonderful stallion to a nearly blind (only 10% vision) young man for his riding license test. He only rode him for a couple of times beforehand and they had no time to tune to each other. I was worried about the outcome because this was so very important for the rider. But my boy took the initiative during the test and everyone could swear that he knew the test himself. Even when the young man threw the reins on his neck and forgot to give aids for canter in his excitement, he calmly started to canter at the exact correct letter. Needless to say, they passed the test with flying colors and my boy has done me proud yet once again...

Taking Rosie on 2 fun rides in which she behaved impeccably, doing our first "jump" (tiny branch on the floor) and sitting on Harry once in the field
