Zak not killing another dog:

Sorry, I can't view anything in the links, I just get a page from photobucket with a little white square with a big red x inside it. Maybe I need to have a photobucket account myself or something, to be able to view.

But I will still suggest that you remember that it is called dog training, if they always got it right the first time it would be called something like uncover your perfect dog, ;) besides it is also often about training the human into helping the dog to remember to hold...
So hooray for the first water retrieve!

And due to what you wrote in your other post about Zak, I conclude that it is still onwards and upwards, so you have double reasons to feel very proud...

:D

Thank you for taking the time to reply and thank you for all of your lovely smilies!

Turns out this was his last retrieve, he was tired. Today, he won't eat (a first) and he was sick, so no more water, poor baby. :( His brother, who did the same training exactly, is fine. They've both been to that pond lots so I'm a bit confused.

I simply remember the times when I've felt really proud with my bitches, so I thought some happy, partying smiles would be appropriate. :D

And about getting confused, *sigh* there has been times when I just have really wished that they could talk like humans and tell me what they had done/how they'd done it/where their problem is located as in is it a toe or the whole paw... *sigh*

Hope he gets better soon. :)

Glad to hear on the mend! And he is doing so well.
For what its worth my lab is a shaker after water so we don't hold on return now as would for dry retrieve but do 'take and shake' slightly different but its more game like and he now brings back before shaking unlike before with holding.

Sorry I can't view the photobucket pic but can I join the proud mummy clique? My little springer,Holly, has just completed her first season of shooting. She is 18months old so has been learning the ropes all season with her older sister. Then on the last shoot I took her on her own to do some beating. She was an absolute star! She was focussed on me yet worked really hard. She never ignored one whistle command (not like her older sister!!). A lot of other beaters commented on what a good dog she was and how obedient she was.
One very proud mum!

Did you get pics?

No pics CT - I completely forgot! I was so busy keeping Holly working that it didn't occur to me. Still only 8 months til the season starts again!

Cool videos - Zak looks like he's coming on nicely (hope he feels better now too) & Bear's enthusiasm as he jumps in is hilarious!:)

Sadly, Bear is now unwell. He threw up blood last night, so I was up til silly o'clock. Zak threw up tea, shortly followed by Brig and Bear won't eat. I've binned all food that has been defrosted for two days, scrubbed all bowls and food containers. The ony thing Zak will eat are crappy little bone shape biscuits!

The trainer is sending the videos to the big gun dog trainer :)

All three were back to bouncy this morning and starving!! They've had rice and a piece of a Wainwright's tray each and OH is primed to give little and often today.
