Fizz has been going to fly ball for 4 weeks now and it is starting to feel like it's clicking.

She was totally consistent on the open run back (so no netting round the hurdles) and she was going away from me and coming back well on the open run as well. I was even able to get her playing on the box off the lead with total concentration!!

The best bit for me......it took her 40 minutes to get tired. When she gets tired is when she starts doing laps of the indoor school instead of coming back to me and she'll try and play with other dogs etc. Normally it's 20 mins/half an hour and that's in the enclosed run. We go back to coming back over just one jump and call in a day once she starts getting tired and loosing concentration so she is ending on a good note but she honestly felt like she's starting to get it tonight :D

Obligatory whippet photo.....

And the corgi so he's not left out

I'd be proud too if I got a whippet to engage as Fizz has done.Plus the top pic is absolutely beautiful, she blends so harmoniously into the landscape.I would love to have had a whippet, but made different choices,so really enjoy the sight hounds we see here.

It's wonderful when you find something that the dog loves and focuses on to the exclusion of all else, isn't it? :)

Loved the photo of your corgi.....my aunt had one when I was a wee kid and I loved that dog, but the ****** would never go for a walk with anyone but my aunt! He would bottom plant and that was it! Talk about stubborn. For some reason or other I still have a fondness for the breed and often consider them as I am getting older and not really able to realistically consider getting another HPR pup.

Mine would love Flyball and I keep meaning to try it. Hes a working bred whippet and a "typical" whippet in most ways. Except he loves to retrieve! Its not the retrieving that he really likes, its the chasing to fetch it, but hes super smart and knows that he has to bring it back for it to be thrown again. He even retrieves out of water, so long as he can run in, he jumped in once and his head went under, and that was the end of jumping in

He also does the "lap of honour" thing if hes tired or very excited. We do the same and just let him get it out his system and then carry on to end on a good note :)

Quite some achievement as whippets are rarely natural retrievers. You should have a go at agility with her too, bet she'd love it. Are you going to flyball in Shropshire?

He's a stubborn mule too. My OH can't walk him off the lead as he won't respond to him at all. Me and my mum he is fine with but OH isn't worth his attention ;)

Fizz is the same and I did wonder if it's because she's a working type (besides water, she doesn't do water!). She knows bringing her ball back means it goes back in the ball flinger so she gets to chase it again.

We couldn't find a club in Shropshire, only agility so we're going to Litchfield who train at Snareshill. I have thought about agility and we've done a couple of 'have a go' classes but I need to do major work on her obedience first!
