I don't post a lot, but am so proud of my wee boy just now I wanted to share it with you all. Some of you may even have seen us yesterday - we had an article in the Scottish Daily Mail, Daily Record, The Herald, and the national Daily Express. We are also on all the online websites, but Daily mail is best - see the link below.

I know they aren't high quality reading material, but the aim was to try and reach more people with info about deaf dogs, and we have already had more interest from people joining the Deaf Dog Network - with or without deaf dogs already. It is just about making people aware they are just dogs who happen not to hear - I don't consider myself special in any way, and my boy is special to me because he is mine and we have been through a lot together, and less because he is deaf. I am a first time dog owner, so if I can do it anyone can with a bit of love and passion!

Hope you enjoy it :)

I would add that yes, Horus had issues and still does to some degree, but I can say that he has the same issues as his 2 hearing brothers - in fact he has much less issues - so it is NOT his deafness that is the problem, it is the damage done to him by his breeder. All of the brothers had issues since 6 weeks old when they were rescued.

Wow well done you on working so hard with Horus. I actually saw this yesterday and FB posted it to my friend who has just taken on a deaf puppy :)

ladyearl, please ask them to get in touch with The Deaf Dog Network - we have a fabulous community on facebook and it is turning rapidly into a really awesome resource for deafie owners of all abilities and experiences. We would love to see her if she hasn't already joined!!
Thanks for the lovely comments :)

Well done, what an amazing achievement, you have every right to be proud and reading through some of the posts from people who know you he wasnt an easy dog to deal with. The fact he is your first dog certainly puts most dog owners to shame including me.
