My horse tore his tendon last year it was been treated with shock wave therapy and has healed .It was 80 % tear caused from field /stable accident.I know alot of people have experienced tendon tear but this is a different area of tendon and I wondered what stresses were placed on high tendon tear.

My biomechanics book is buried in the loft at the mo, it may have some info, but I thought I'd just ask - superficial or deep flexor tendon? It will be one or the other!

Definitely superficial which is better than ddft. Its not normal area its behind the knee but Im unsure what stresses are placed on that area of tendon.

Is this the same horse you first posted about months ago, surely you take the vets advice what is the point of keep asking people on here who aren't vets anyway

I have asked the vets advice and his tendon is looking good.I wanted to know if anyone had experienced similiar tear and how it affected their horse and outcome. Its called sharing experiences. There are alot of us on here who help each other out with similair issues and share our experiences.
At the time I posted it wasnt the main concern or cause of lameness he has another injury that was causing severe lameness issues and I have been concentrating on this .

As this is an open and anonymous forum you have no idea who or what anyone does. As cellie has said its about sharing information - lets hope its not something you ever need to do.
Everyone is entitled to ask and share information and experiences that may benefit another. If you have nothing helpful to add prehaps you shouldn't bother.

I dont know why hoopala even botherd to make a post I thought it a bit mean, I have posted Cellie before having had a horse with a nasty tendon injury and unless you have been in that position you cant know how awful it makes you feel and chatting to other people sometimes gives you a bit of hope
