My vet thinks that the nerve to my horses hind suspensories has regenerated so I don't think we have many options left. Horse had neurectomy and fasciotomy in May last year (2009).

Vet is coming out this afternoon to scan them and probably inject with some sort of steroid in an attempt to bring down inflammation and pain. Ronnie's probably about 3-4/10ths lame on a circle, doesn't look bad in a straight line, though it won't be long before his back siezes up :(

Has anyone got any idea about whether this might work?

Hi,

Very sorry to hear this. My horse had the surgery a few months back. After the 8 weeks of rest took him back to vets who said he looked great and she was very pleased with the results. 4 weeks of walking and start to trot and notice he is still slightly dragging the hind toe. Vet came back out said he just looked a bit uncomfortable and gave him a steroid injection into the hock. he has 5 days off then back into work and see how he goes.

There is no way the nerve could have grown back that quick so I think it was his hock perhaps causing the most pain all along as he looked pretty much the same as he did before the op (never really looked lame just knocked his hind toe every 5th stride or so).

Sorry I cannot be of more help. Hopefully the injection will help your horse.
