My gelding has his PSD operation in a few days as he has a very thickened suspensory on one leg, hes having both legs operated on. I spoke to the surgeon today as the hospital hes going to only do the Neurectomy on the notes I've been given.
A friend mentioned to me the Fasciotomy is best being done with the Neurectomy so wanted to ask the surgeon as was conerned.
The surgeon said they as standard just do the neurectomy as they have good outcome and there is no real studies to show the fasciotomy makes any difference however she would be happy to do both if I wanted, it just takes a small time longer and it a little more invasive.
I've done quite a bit of online research, lots of forum posts and it seems the best outcome is with both the fasciotomy and the neurectomy.
I've asked her to do both the fasciotomy and the neurectomy, but am concerned if I've made the wrong decision.
Any opinions please?
Thank you.
