Just got thinking - it would be a cool thing to do before I kill myself from scirosis of the liver!

How hard is race riding compared to your usual XC, hunting etc.?

That would be sooooo cool!! F**k the TB's just go with Oshk, Badge and P!! Flag is cool cos in the menbers you can take anything in and it's over walls ans the readyfeild used to have a hunt race - that would be soo much fun!! Rosiie - the RB hunt race was the only thing morris managed to win!

Oh yes, suppose Oshk would like it, but Sarah Flagg is next week and we are both meant to be going to get pished, whens the B&B one?
 
Think they only have flag with non TB's - we'll have to wait till next year - and be members of the high peak!

think it would be soo cool to have a normal horse race round a race course - no TB's aloud!

However, when I saw her after her first point to point she was white as a sheet - she said she could not believe the speed they went! In our area the hunt races are usually a little more sedate and not normally many entries, so slightly less daunting Mind you, you still wouldn't catch me riding in one at any price!

Seriously tho, it seems a very friendly sport and some quality horses come out of it unscathed.

Personally I havent got the balls for it, but from getting to know our ex pointer, it would seem like lots of fun!! (well he thinks so anyway!)
 
We hae a few pointers at our yard! one very good one who has ad a year off but hopfully it will point next season if it has a jockey hehe! seens hard enough riding in a damn rcing saddle!

Its not like the ones you see on television though. There is one that runs every boxing day on the new forest that is raced over 1.5miles for children and veterans and over 3miles for adults. There arent any actual jumps but its winter time so there will be bogs, ditches and other natural hazards to contend with. Its good fun though, you should seriously consider it if you want a taste of racing!

NOT FAIR! i only have a TB.. he's knackered like but he would go hell for leather round a pt2pt. He only finished last season so he still got the bug.. I dont think i would have the bottle to race race.. over jumps and such..
But i'd love to do a flat one.
 
I want a go at one...but I thought you had to have a wetherbys registered TB to do it properly...
 
I will do it on ben, I dont think we would stand a chance though Have no clue how fast he can go but Id just love to follow people. We should do a hho charity point to point.

I have told myself if Rodney is a useless eventer before I sell him he will do the hunt race - so watch this space! My sister bought a P2P school master for £2k and he was wonderful - sadly she was due to ride in her first race and foot and mouth called whole season off.
You can enter the hunt race on any horse - you would be surprised how fit you need to be. A mate was shattered by the end and could not ride the finish depsite being a stable lad and riding out 3 lots a day.
