J was put to sleep this morning. Unfortunately he had a twisted gut and there was nothing that could be done for him as he was in a lot of pain.

I've decided that I'm done with horses so I'm not sure how much longer I'll be on HHO.

Thank you all for the advice, chat and friendship you've given me since I've been here. I really appreciate it.

I am so so so sorry - knowing what you are going through, there are no words at the moment, but time will help heal - honestly

Big big hug

Thanks guys. I don't need time, I'm done. He was found at 9am and it was a horrible way to go I just can't watch another horse go through that.

I held his head until he was gone and I hope that somehow he knew I was there with him.

I'm so sorry to hear this - must be an awful distressing time for you

. I do hope you stay on this forum though, even though I can understand at the moment you don't want to join in the horsey chat.

Thats awful news. Lost mine the same way so i know how you must be feeling. I was of the same opinion when i lost Simon but few months later my views changed and thus ive got the little un. No "give it time" comments as you know yourself how you feel just *** big hugs**** and am sorry for your loss.

Nightmare come true. How absolutely awful for you, I am so very sorry.

My real, and heartfelt sympathy to you.

Thanks guys.

I just wish I could have done something else. I opted for the injection and god I wish I hadn't.

It is a shock. He was fine last night. I knew as soon as I saw him he wasn't getting up again. He whinnyed to me but he couldn't get up.

Strange thing is when we made the decision he did get up for the first time and he managed to get himself under his own steam into his friends stable.

I'm so sorry Nic *hug* I know how much he meant to you.

I understand you being done with horses, but you would be hugely missed if you left here for good. Would you perhaps consider just staying in the Soapbox?

I'm so sorry to hear this; really feel for you right now. You can only take consolation that you did the right thing for him as quickly as you did. It's always an owner's nightmare when something like this happens.

Don't let it put you off having anything to do with horses though when you so obviously care a great deal about them; give it time to heal and in the mean time, cherish your memories, don't be sad, he had a good life with you.

We lost a pony this way not so long ago. It wasn't a nice sight as they are in pain and there is no way of helping them.
You made the right decision and please try not to beat yourself up over it.
My thoughts are with you.

It is a big shock to the system to loose an equine friend esp like this .

That is so dreadfully sad. Animal ownership can bring such heartache, as well as joy. Having a horse is not a requirement for HHO membership - we're all here for you regardless, so stay around. Big hugs.
