Hi im taking my PTT exam 2moro at Quob, really worried about it as done all training myself and with help of some freinds and pupils. Worried about the 10 min presentations, do i need to take my own props otr handouts? Will i be penalised if i dont wriite on the board or get the group activly doing something~? any advice on any areas of the exam much apprecaited!

When I did mine, some people had handouts. The 'nutrition' person had a bag of various groceries to discuss. The person doing 'goals' had bought a sheet to write your own goal on.

I didn't have any props, I did structure my lectures to make sure people had to give me answers though then wrote these on the board. I ended up doing warm up/cool down and got everyone up to do some stretches but tbh I made most of it up on the spot.

I think they won't be keen on a straightforward 'lecture' where you just talk at the group for 10mins- but they really aren't that strict about the presentations. Just ask people to contribute ideas and try to get a discussion going.

My top tip for the PTT is don't be afraid to move away from your brief if you don't think it appropriate to the group you get, half an hour is NO TIME AT ALL to teach jump (if you get jump) so rattle through, and make sure you have a reason for everything you do. As long as you can 'defend' yourself to the examiner they will be happy.

I actually mis walked my strides when I took mine and ended up with a very short 3-stride double. When questioned afterwards I told the examiner I wanted the horses to come in slightly short as a couple of the riders looked a bit unstable over the fence and I didn't want the horse to go off a flyer.

Truth was, I'd just walked 1 to few paces in the heat of the moment. I passed LOL
