This year it's complusory to have public liability insurance to ride on ashdown forest.I was just wondering if anybody had any recomendations? Have just seen that E&L insurance will insure me for about £40 a year, the cheapest I have found so far.

E&L have the worst reputation as Insurers, have you thought about joining the BHS as a Gold member, you not only get libility cover but all the benefits of being a BHS member as well.

E and L are rubbish..... join the British horse society you get free public liability insurance and a free legal helpline as well as other benefits.

E&L always give low quotes.........well you can when you hardly ever pay out on any claims can't you! If you check previous posts you will find that E&L have been subject of more adverse criticism than any other company.

Most Vets consider you to be uninsured if you are with them. They demand payment from you & then you have to go through the hassle of trying to claim your outlay back.

I second the BHS membership. You get the public liability, the benefits of membership, some magazines!! and you are helping the welfare of the horse by being a member.
Don't touch E&L with a disinfected barge-pole! I fell into that trap of nice low quotes ......and then I tried to make a claim. It was all very upsetting especially as the vet refused to deal with them so had to pay up front to the vet then try to claim money back.

Thanks for the warning guys, shows how ignorant I am, I had no idea! Will probably look into BHS then
