Hello everyone! I am new to the forum but I hope someone can give me some advice.

Has anyone made a claim on someones equine third party/public liability insurance or had a claim made against them? If so, how did they decide who was liable & was there any problems in doing so?
Its just that Im in the middle of a long complicated claim against my previous yard owner and have just found out that Im probably not entitled to legal aid, so if I lose the case I may end up having to pay legal fees of £20,000- £30,000!

Would really like to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation, thanks!

Generally speaking, if you have third party insurance, it means that you are insured in case your horse damages someone's property in some way. ie, your horse escaped and trashed a car, or someone's garden.

How much is your claim for ? As if it is less than £5k you might be able to claim in Small Claims Court in which case I beleive they don't award Legal Fees.
Also check your houshold insurance as that might cover you for Legal Costs.
