Puffy legs, windgalls, and stable boots...

My 17.2h ID has huge windgalls, and standing in his stable overnight they puff up incredibly, i want to avoid using bandages and am looking for stable boots to keep his legs from filling up.

I've looked at magnetic boots, but because they aren't reccommended to be used for more than 12 hours, Im thinking non-magnetic (although i understand even so, they shouldnt be on for so long).

There are quite a few on the market.. Can anyone reccommend good stable boots please??

My boy's previous owner used to use Puffa ice boots when his legs puffed up. I must say, I've used the ones she left when I bought him, but I don't think they make too much difference. However, that might be because they are old and not working properly anymore. You soak them in water for 1/2 hour and then put them on, and you can leave them on all day or all night. Might be worth looking at?

Why don't you try the magnectic ones on just overnight and see if they work, my horse gets swollen wingalls overnight but they go down once he is walking around.

I'm not surprised that the puffa boots don't make much difference if you leave them on all night. Think about it.
Clay works well on windgalls, although don't know what the problem is with bandgages (although understandable in summer).

Easy walkers (when ive used them) have made an enormous difference to a horse that because it was stabled had windgalls (they were quite large) after a round or two of shoeing with them... you guessed it... NO windgalls. NONE. they had dissapeared.

Apparently back on track no bow wraps are good for this sort of thing although I've not tried them out, I'm considering them for one of my horses who has the same thing!.

I've found the best way of stopping legs from filling is to use a stable bandage as the pressure keeps any swelling down, you can also apply a rub or liniment which can help, I've just started using sore no more liniment and this actually has helped with swelling

Think Premier Equine and Kentaur do reasonably priced stable boots too.
